  1. Hard question. Detmers looks so legit and so close to being an impact major leaguer. I would far rather give up outfield and middle infield prospects than give up Detmers. I would rather “overpay” with other prospects and keep Detmers. Detmers is too good an exact fit for what the major league roster needs.
  2. We all assume Scherzer is getting an extension. Any predictions on what the Dodgers are giving him?
  3. Great question. A little more now. BUT he is available now. You assume he is available in the off-season. And he probably is. I don’t like passing in a real opportunity today hoping the market is a little better maybe later. Also, adding him now is more valuable than adding him in the off-season because the reality is the Angels are not entirely out of it this year. AND, how about the same question for the value of an Adell? Is he worth less in the off-season if he strikes out 38% of his at bats the rest of the way?
  4. Do we expect all the last day deals to go down in the last hour? I would have expected some deals to happen by now (today) since there is less than 4 hours left. ???
  5. I am baffled by the lack of enthusiasm for who Berrios is. He is pretty damn good. Paying the correct price for him would be a very good move for this team. Next year matters.
  6. I love minor leaguers probably far more than most. But the danger in that love affair is similar to the dog that loves to play fetch but will not give up the tennis ball for you to throw it. Nobody wants to gut the farm. But you should be willing to trade some quality prospects if you expect to get quality major leaguers.
  7. Totally disagree. The price they would pay for either would not even come close to “gutting the farm.”
  8. One more comment on your post above. You think it is not the time to go “all in” and gut the farm. I assume you mean “all in” for this year. There is no indication at all that this team has any Interest at all in sacrificing the future for THIS year.
  9. Would trading a couple of their best prospects for a Berrios or Alcantara be “gutting the farm”? This team needs starting pitching going forward far more than it needs this many outfield prospects. Nobody wants to “gut” the farm. But I also don’t want to NOT make a trade to get what they need because that would arguably be “gutting” their chances of actually competing in the majors right now (now meaning next couple years).
  10. Those players are available for a controllable high end starter. I don’t know how anyone could think otherwise.
  11. Chasing Scherzer only made sense with an extension. So it is silly to characterize it as the Angels being “buyers” for a run this year. In other words, you don’t now become hard core sellers because you didn’t get Scherzer. You keep pursuing the controllable arm you need.
  12. I don’t know the Dodger prospects. What is the Angel equivalent?
  13. I have no doubt when it is all over we will easily get a poor man’s Heaney for Heaney.
  14. My personal sources just confirmed the following trade: Baby Got Dak has traded Travis Kelce to Hot Chubb Time Machine for Dalvin Cook.
  15. Yeah, now the Angels will just have to lobby mlb for some rule changes so that they can play five outfielders and five middle infielders so that keeping all these prospects will end up being the right decision.
  16. Can’t wrap my head around how you can pay for sex with a stranger and not feel gross but OK.
  17. Can’t wait for the narrative when the deadline is over that no team in baseball can boast an influx of talent that compares to the Angels “getting” Trout, Rendon and Walsh back from the DL.
  18. Actually 2016 called for Quintana and 2020 called for Bundy.
  19. Yes. It was funny. I used to love going to Portland for its quirkiness, very local food joints and fun atmosphere, bookstores, coffee, art, music. All so chill. Then it got angry.
  20. Agree. And now since it is a haven for nasty, unbathed assholes totally hostile to people not from Portland.
  21. Seattle and Portland are both dirty buttholes now too.
  22. Speaking of cities. They destroyed San Francisco. It is awful now.
