I disagree with this. Injuries are not under his control. He seems like he wants to be out there but more in Salmon way than an Erstad way.

I've never lived in Orange County either but my Dad is from there. He is a Dodgers fan and taking a victory lap at the moment which pisses me off even more.

Remember when one of the greatest players of all time reached free agency and left his team to sign the biggest contract in baseball history? 
I'm talking about ARod in December 2000. 
The Mariners won 116 games the next season. 
Do I think the Angels are going to win 116 next season? 
Yes, obviously. 
Just kidding. 
But my point is: None of us know what is going to happen. 
I remember when the Angels finished the 2001 season losing 18 of their final 20 and I thought This team will never win a championship. 
And I remember 12 years and one day ago when the Angels signed Pujols and CJ Wilson on the same day and I thought This guarantees at least one World Series appearance in the next three years. 
None of us know what is going to happen. 
Except maybe Lou.

But we don't need an aging outfielder for another 6 years to get a pitcher for one year and he jumps to free agency. It's a dumb trade.

Or to put it another way, signing a DH-only guy like Martinez or Pederson will be a good sign that Perry Minasian doesn't know what he's doing.

I’m going to get shit on for this, but there is NO way in hell he will be worth that. None. 

We have known this day was coming for at least two years. It will suck not having him on our team anymore, but we can all say that we got to see something truly special. I wish him nothing but the best.

If Ohtani wants privacy and to do his own thing, Toronto isn't the place to go. Rogers owns the team and is a hyper aggressive  telecommunication  giant in Canada. It will be Ohtani 24/7. 
And of course the expectations are that he will be the saviour leading them to championships. Anything less will be bitter disappointment. 
But maybe that's what he wants to kick start a new career phase. 
Should be interesting to see how many Canadian dollars his contract equates to. The economy is currently in shambles. 
 

How funny would it be if after all this he re-signs with the Angels.  The best part of that would be that guy on here that has 90% of his posts related to Ohtani leaving, will simply piss off if he signs back with the Angels.  

He doesn't need to visit a city. He's played in Toronto plenty of times. He went to Dunedin to speak with their front office and to see the Spring Training facilities, which are excellent. 
Ohtani is en route to Toronto to sign his contract. 
He's a Blue Jay now. And I'm highly entertained.
