The net worth is somewhat public, whereas their annual income Is not. People tend to blame players even though they didn’t strike because they have public salaries. Especially the highly paid ones… I know one current major leaguer who lives in my town in the off-season as he’s married to a sister of a friend. I’ve met him once. While he’s wealthy, it’s not fuck you money and he’s been in the league a while. He’s not a star, (around 7 WAR) and has played for quite a few teams in 10 year career. His house is really nice but not over the top.

Minor leaguers need to unionize with help from their big brothers in the MLBPA. They have different needs than the Major Leaguers.
The fact that owners are bitching that they want to cut what amounts to one or two major league minimum salaries from their minor league payroll is a joke.
Minor league ball should be independent and not only affiliated with the clubs. This take it down to 4 levels thing is a joke. I don't think they realize that there are government officials ready to take away their anti-trust exemption if they kill more minor league ball.
Paying the wages of all 180 minor league players plus maybe 30 club players, amounts to less than $5M per year total. If they pay them a living wage, it's gonna be somewhere close to $10M per, or one Jose Quintana, one Matt Harvey, one Cody Allen, etc.
I don't understand why they don't pay them in ST either.
Baseball is flush, and while I think this is a negotiation tactic, increasing wages, and building dorm style housing for 200 guys should not be that tough.
Providing nutritional meals and training equipment is also a no brainer.
If I were Arte, especially with all the bad press the Tyler Skaggs trial is getting, plus the bad press on the Angels Stadium sale, I would be announcing that I was building player dorms / training facilities in each of my minor league cities with the help and cooperation of those teams owners, and the same thing in Tempe.
I can't imagine land being expensive in some of the minor league cities, but the basic dorms should cost maybe $8M, max? that's 50k per unit, which is pretty high if it's dorm style, and low if its apartment style.

They should be paid minimum wage at least. Bonuses paid years earlier do not help with living expenses.

    Sweet...
I've got tickets for the Sunday game, and am either doing a cross country road trip or flying out. I'm also going to KC on the way back. Assuming of course they settle everything this month. LOL. I was planning on stopping in TN on Monday, then driving all the way to KC on Tuesday, or something like that. Haven't figured out all the plans.

Just found out it's just under a 4-hour drive. I'm going to get tickets for the entire weekend's games and look at an Air B&B with a pool somewhere nearby.
I'll be creating a thread on this later on @Hubs. But I'm definitely going that weekend. We'll plan some shit to do when we're not at the ballpark.

It's a give and take. I am probably more in favor of them going to 12, but more postseason baseball isn't a bad thing.
I also want two more franchises, to go to 32 and two divisions of 8 per league. Then winning division means something.

This makes me so incredibly happy. I couldn't stand listening to him, and I hope they bring in someone who speaks Spanish who is actually understandable in English over the Radio/TV...I liked him in Spanish, never understood why he wanted so badly to make the transition.

I think it's funny everyone rips on California. Every state has issues. We just get those issues in 80 degree weather in February.
All politics aside, congrats Chuck, it looks great. Happy for you.
Gonna be in your neighborhood end of July, and will stop by if you'd like. Or we can hit up the Angels v. Braves game if you feel like making a long drive. I'm going to Sunday's game, but am willing to go Saturday night too. 7-23 Sat and 7-24 Sun.
Hitting KC on my drive home.

He was the regular Spanish announcer on TV, then switched to English radio, and then wanted the English Play by Play. I think that's why he's leaving, .... He has gotten better in English, but it's still bad.

Of the SLC Roster, only a handful of guys would make that. And it's mostly the guys that are called up and then sent back down. (People on the 40-man) And it's prorated to days spent in AAA.
Adell, Canning, Detmers, Thaiss, Rengifo, Bemboom, Mayfield, Ward, Jay, Wallach, Barria, Naughton, Peters, Schleber.
There might be a few more.
Guys on their first major league contract, like Marsh, Rojas, Ortega, Quijada, C-Rod, etc. make a minimum 46,000 in 2021, and will move to the more expensive group in 2022 if they're not in the majors.
Minor League Free Agents (who aren't on the 40, also could make more...but not much more).
Some guys though, make as little as 15k, or 700 per week for 5 months. This is probably guys who may have included Fletcher and Walsh in previous years, and maybe Stefanic, Walding, or Gatewood.
Lower levels is where the problem really is. It goes down to $400 per week, and seeing as they probably play games or work out every day as part of their job, they're easily putting in 12 hour days, 6 days a week. Plus travel. Minimum wage in Utah is $7.25, Alabama $7.25, Washington is $14.49, California is $15, and Arizona is $12.80 for 2022. So these guys work for less than minimum wage.
There's nothing wrong with paying these guys $15-20 an Hour across all levels, minimum, with overtime, and a housing allowance or housing provided by the team.
I'd imagine there are like 100-120 players in affiliated ball per season, and another 40-50 at the camp levels. (Not including foreign team academies). If you take out the 15-20 guys who are non-rostered major leaguers (40-man but not in Anaheim), you still have like 150 guys, playing 8 hours per day, working out another 2 and traveling up to 20 hours per week. Say that's 90 hours for 7 months including Spring Training, which would be 2520 hours.. 25% more than a full time job over 12 months. At $15 per hour it's almost $40k, and at $20 it's just over $50k. Not including overtime, which would push it to the equivalent of $50-72k.
At 150 guys, that's $9 million, which is a significant amount of money, but peanuts if you think about how much money major league baseball makes, and considering they paid Jose Quintana that much...

I don't understand how a multi-billion dollar industry can't pay players at all levels an appropriate wage.  Al kidding aside, it is a job and they should be compensated appropriately.

If he's on the 40-man roster, which is likely, since he's on the second contract, he'd make like $93k or maybe a bit more. (Prorated to days spent in AAA), He's likely to receive the major league minimum for every day he's in the majors too.
Some players make like 15k, but probably 10-12 of the 26 at AAA are on the 40-man, and going up and down.
Minor league free agents also make better money, but I don't see why the Angels would cut him loose. He's an asset. And while sitting out a year is a negative, it's not as if he had a disciplinary issue, so...
