That's good news as we won't have to worry about the Angels losing Stefanic, Pina, or another non-protected player.

Thank the baseball gods. I think it's actually a fair deal for both sides.

I imagine that this current offer will probably be agreed to.  What this means is that I was correct about it being good for the game to shake out some issues.  And honestly.  Me being right is the most important thing.

They're at 159,100,000 in real payroll dollars, and at $182,000,000 or so including benefits. The minimum salary will go up and that will eat up 2-4M (with bonus pool, if it counts, which I am sure that it will).
That leaves just shy of 45M before exceeding the cap. I do not expect Arte to spend all of that, but Carlos Rodon for 3/57 and a reliever or two, could be in the cards.

Hubs got a reaction from Erstad Grit in Has your love for Angels baseball decreased over the years? What would it take to bring it back?
It's been 20 years since the 2002 WS Championship. That was such a ride, but it also looked as if they'd be competing for years, as they were probably a year or two early from being the team we knew they could be. Then they signed Vladdy and Colon for 2004 and everything was banging.
Then losing the 2004 ALDS and the 2005 ALCS which wasn't all because of AJ Fucking Pierzynski and Doug Fucking Eddings, but Going home up 2-0, versus splitting and losing a game like that...probably would've faced the Astros in that WS. And likely won, that was a lopsided matchup between the White Sox and the Astros.
Then 07-08-09 all great seasons... then drafting Trout and 2012 bringing in Wilson and Pujols. They were a legit contending franchise!
Then nothing for 10 years besides a blink and you might miss it playoff loss to the upstart flash in a pan Royals.
We won an average of 91 games from 2002-2011 (and 93 from 2002-2009). But from 2012-2021, average of 80 wins. The worst year was 2020 which was abbreviated, but would've been 70-92, if they'd played 162. A 72 and a 76 win year also, and only one season over 90.
They just need to win again.
The 2000's were a special decade for the Angels and their long suffering fans, who'd only had three playoff years in the 1979, 1982, and 1986 seasons to show for their 41 years...
I think with Ohtani, Rendon and of Course Mike Trout, plus solid contributors like Walsh, and Stassi...they've got a really good offensive team. Fletcher needs to get back to form, and one of the kids needs to break out in the OF...then they'll have a very good year in 2022, and hopefully start a new decade run of excellence.
And everyone will be excited again.

It's not two Angels games, it's literally two of the 15 games. So a 13% chance it's an Angels game.
*27? = Maybe 4-5 Friday games will be not broadcast.
Not a big loss. I remember when they used to only broadcast 80-85 Angels games period.

I think they're gonna win the division. Houston is gonna miss Correa. Seattle surprised but isn't gonna be quite as good, maybe 86-87 wins next year. Oakland is gonna have a fire sale.
Texas added big but are still at least a year away.
    So, 6.

Yes it is. If my job gives me a $5,000 bonus in December but then says, "By the way, we're not paying you for the hours you work in March," then I'm not being paid for my labor in March.

There are no internships where in the industry they keep you under control for six years and potentially as many as 12 before you can pick to work for a competitor. That's indentured servitude.
It's not an internship, it's a job, and they need to pay minor league players at least the minimum wage. They shouldn't get a break on those wages.
Paying these guys like 40-50k per season isn't gonna break the bank. And it's not life changing money. Just because they only work from Mid-Feb to Mid-Sept doesn't mean they don't need to support themselves for the other 5 months.
Salaried positions allow for travel and such to be uncompensated.
1k per week for the whole year for all 180 minor leaguers for an owner seems like a lot, but it's less than $10M overall (which some are paying to one bad starting pitcher). Not a huge investment. In return, they get a cut of minor league attendance money, which isn't much, but 4 teams playing 70 odd games a year, is 280 games, and if they all average 5300 fans (2021 average) and get $3 a ticket, they recoup 40-50% of that. If they average more, as some of the AAA clubs do, they get even more back.
Minor league baseball is quite profitable and not just because they pay players nearly nothing. If they provided housing, which they are finally starting to do, they will probably be able to pay players less, and claim that they provide $1000-$1500 per month in housing as part of their "salary" package.
