So a catcher that had a long career in the majors?
A fringe to bad player that has hung around, yes. He’s fine but not sure id be bummed about my favorite team not getting him lol
-
Not sure why anyone thinks Austin Hedges is any good. He’s a worse Jeff Mathis. Look at his stats, holy shit they’re bad

So what would Cease cost? Detmers, Silseth and Paris?
Pretty high on Detmers and Silseth personally. Think I’d pass here
detmers reminds me of Blake Snell a bit

Trading Iglesias as a salary dump was a good move for the reasons others highlighted. He hasn’t exactly been dominant for Atlanta either and certainly not worth his contract. Having his worst season since 2019 based on WHIP, ERA+, FIP, BB/9. It was a smart and necessary trade. Estevez has arguably been the best closer in the majors this season.
That Bautista guy in Baltimore has a .98 ERA and is striking out 2 batters per inning. No one’s been close to better than him this season

Have to get a reliever that’s reliable. There’s considerable upside in the Angels bullpen right now but they need someone proven who is having a good year
-
Need 17 in August and Sept to make a run at it
lets do it
-
This is an extremely potent offense when healthy. It’s too bad about Ward but even without him this should be a team that’s good for 5-6 runs per game
-
Nothing puzzling about trading Quero. He’s blocked by OHoppe and the Angels can find a serviceable backup in free agency or through the system with a guy like Thaiss.
I don’t see that as some major loss at all

Granted I don't know shit about our prospects; but does losing Jake Madden and Mason Albright really hurt our organization? I mean we are only 5 GB in the division and less than that in the WC? We have to prove to Ohtani that we are going all in.
We are definitely going to be left holding the bag if we miss.
They have to get in and they have maybe a 10-15% chance at getting as things currently stand. I’m actually very bullish that they CAN make it. But I would not bet on it.
Gonna need some luck for once

Escobar is completely washed IMO. Not a major league player at this point. I think he’ll be the odd man out in a couple weeks
-
I understand that we are in deep going for this thing, but this just doesn’t appear to be a sound decision to make when you’re 3-4 games out in August basically.
this is the move you make when you’re tied for a playoff spot or have a lead
its risky business. Sure hope it works. Might as well push the chips in completely now. Go get the top reliever on the market.

I said this in the offseason and kind of got laughed at by some, but this team ignored the offense too much to be successful. The Valazquez’ and Wade’s of the world can’t be in the lineup as starters if you want to win. Run prevention matters but so does run creation, and we absolutely have sucked at that.
Time to swing a trade for a SS and real left fielder. Backup catcher is a must too. Trout/Ohtani/Rendon/Stassi/ward are the only guys on the roster right now that should be seen as everyday guys next season ImO. Everyone else needs to be re-evaluated. Guys like Rengifo and Fletcher are useful in the proper role. I don’t know about Adell and Walsh at this point
i don’t feel like the pitching is far off at all. They’ve got some real talent there for the first time in a long long time. It’s just a shame they have a bunch of hacks at the plate now
-
Fletcher is a 2-3 WAR player in my opinion. Good enough to start but preferably a utility guy on a team with playoff aspirations
we have much bigger problems than him
- Swordsman78 and Angel Oracle
- 2

They don’t have the money to sign a Story or a Correa.
the bigger failure and disappointment is the inability to draft and develop middle infielders. Fletcher is the best MIF they’ve developed since Kendrick and Aybar. That’s laughable
trading Segura definitely stings but they just have to find better guys through the draft
-
That’s just bad bad bad from Stassi
-
How do you take it right down the middle down by 2 runs!
-
Stassi gonna win this
-
Slap it to left field!

I mean at one point, Pujols was averaging a negative war.....that's worst than not playing.....
I think his last 4 years here he was negative WAR. Him and Cabrera are the worst contracts of all time, let’s not kid ourselves. Cano pretty bad too

Hamilton is the worst signing in the history of this franchise.
I think it’s Pujols simply due to length of contract(double the time of Hamilton). I’ll agree Hamilton was the most pathetic

It’s time to start moving out some pieces that are tough to move. Have to start feeling out the market on some guys if we sink to 10 games below .500
-

Well he was hitting .170 when we were 10+ games over .500.
And it still wasn’t alright in my book. I’ll never be okay having a pitchers spot in the order. I’m cool having him on the roster, but as a starter? No way
-
Batting .170 with an OPS below .500. Time to find someone else and the answer won’t be Fletcher either imo
-
Your starting short stop just can’t bat .170. Just can’t happen
Ohtani has cleared out his locker

We are officially the laughing stock of sports. You have to trade Trout at this point, I hope he asks out.
just can’t keep going down this road
