The yearly this team is special post after beating up on a AAA team and the smack back to reality after playing against a real team.

Sounds like we need someone with great spin rates who has proven he can get great spin rates through various methods.

Ippei should have driven himself to Morongo and saved everyone the headache.

Agreed. Arte's buy high approach doesn't have a good track record. 

We got just enough left for a Bellinger contract drawn up by Arte.

I heard we are the favorite to sign Jamie Moyer to a one year deal. 

I was expecting a "we could have had ohtani for this much per year" post.

I will root he implodes in the playoffs along with Kershaw. 

Maybe Rendon just really hated Ohtani and now that he’s gone he will be back to his old self!

Mike Trouts 12 WAR season combined with a resurgent Rendon and our pitchers stepping it up. 

Same as usual as an Angels fan.

He has unfinished business that obviously does not include Clint Hurdle. 

The Dodgers went against how they normally operate in order to sign Ohtani.  I hope it becomes back to bite them in the ass.  Their FO always brags about they develop internally and don’t sign huge names for long term big $ contracts.  Understandable to allow an exception for Ohtani but we will see how they fare going against their own principles.  I guess they have been doing it more lately with Freeman and Betts earlier but yeah.  Let’s see what happens. 

I think the big problem here is a few things working against each other.  

-Arte does not like to do a full rebuild 

-Arte likes to sign big names at their high point (and right after)

-Arte will spend yes, but he is cautious. He clearly wants to stay below the luxury tax.  
 

The result of these 3 things is we always hover around mediocrity because we take on big contracts by players who under perform , but won’t bust the budget to be competitive.  

Everyone keeps saying he had a 2nd TJ but I don’t think he did.  He did something but i don’t think it was tj. 

Hopefully Arte realizes this isn’t a quick fix and actually sells the team this time. I can’t imagine him wanting to sit through a rebuild after having just lost the best player ever (possibly).  

Just remember guys we didn’t need ohtani for our magical 2014 playoff run.  

Trade him to the Phillies for Marsh.

I would love at this point for him to just sign with a team that has had zero chatter about signing him, like the Rays or something. 

Best case scenario is he goes to any team besides the Dodgers and then we somehow sign Yamamoto.
