  1. i'm going to let the groupthink thing slide because i don't even know who you are. if you want to ask me my opinion about something, don't start it off by discounting my opinion as not my own. arte spends money on the major league roster. that's a general fact, but he'll spend it all on one shiny object and then refuse to spend the necessary total for the rest of the roster. he's both a big spender and a cheap skate on the mlb roster. also, while he invests in the major league roster the angels have operated at a deficit at every other level of scouting, analytics, etc. etc. he and carpino don't know how to run an organization of this size in sport. i believe i remember that all of the angels top brass have no history in baseball. it just goes on and on, and at some point the proof is in the pudding. it's just one error compounding on another on and on. he sucks.
  2. i thought he would be the comeback player of the year. i said it somewhere here in the offseason, but i think i didn't know what he was really about. he's always said that he doesn't really like baseball, and i guess i wasn't listening. i think he's quit on the team. i think he's acting like a diva with his attitude, and i have no respect for that. his new nickname for me is, tony two games.
  3. guys, we just need a hashtag! that's what's missing.
  4. so we should be grateful for the spouse who cheats on us because we could have a spouse who hits us? that's victim thinking. get rid of arte because he's a bad owner. try not to compound the mistake by getting another shitty owner. the problem is we have no say in the matter. i was pretty stoked with some of the possible owner names that were in the mix last year.
  5. i can't see any way houston or atlanta would pay for ohtani. the dodgers obviously are easy.
  6. honest question, who's the angels bitch? anybody? i feel like over the course of a season the angels lose the season series to everybody that they play more than a single series with.
  7. best thing i ever did was divorce myself from truly caring about sports. i abandoned any real connection emotionally and now i watch or follow sports as a fan of the game. do i wish the angels were an organization i could really admire? sure, but they aren't. it's like disconnecting emotionally from a sibling you're not proud of. they're there still, but they're not empowered anymore. you may wish it were better, but it doesn't alter your moods.
  8. the answer about luck is in the original post. the angels reached .500 for the 14 time this season, and that number will rise as they ping pong around it for the rest of the year. they are as they have been for seven seasons, the definition of mediocrity. i just can't believe they've had a decade of bad luck.
  9. just not clicking for the first 112 games. i'm just playin' with you.
  10. i don't think i've ever known a team that for years with same/similar core players who consistently never answer a bell. it dumbfounds my mind how unbelievably soft this franchise has become. when it comes time to show what they're made of and if they have any pride, these guys are the suckiest bunch of sucks who ever sucked.
  11. personally, i'm just about at the end of the road. i stopped actually watching games a few years ago. now, i just check in here. i'm holding out on the ohtani story. i was wondering if they would trade him or not and what kind of package if they did. now the only chapter left is if he stays or goes. if he stays, then i do to. if he leaves, then there's nothing interesting left in following the angels. mike never really gets a healthy season in anymore and i don't really want to continue to watch him lose year after year. i fucking hate arte and carpino and was really invigorated, as many of you were too, by the new beginning with the franchise, then that asshat stole that enthusiasm from me too.
  12. quero and some of the prospects that inside pitch likes and knows more about than i will probably be missed, but the real reason the angels are fucked to the bone is all the prospects that they didn't get from trading ohtani. i've heard reports that there were numerous teams very interested and some claimed juan soto like returns. i don't think the angels are going to make the playoffs because i just don't believe in their toughness and if ohtani leaves, they are so weak compared to actual contenders it's not even close. it will take a herculean effort by perry, whom i like, to completely rebuild this team, again, from year to year.
  13. i feel like i've read this more times than i can remember. there's just something so soft about this team. it feels like every time they have an opportunity to buckle down and show some mettle, they just roll over and pull their pants down. i don't mean just this year, for a handful of years now.
  14. the angels are so fucked after this season if ohtani walks. i mean, clusters of fucks all over.
  15. damn it. i like lou. i'm very sorry to hear this. lou, if you read this; god speed, sir, and i hope you pass easily and with your loved ones around you.
  16. he's also promoted a shitload who are basically sticking on the team, even if they're playing the shuttle game due to usage and injuries. he's going to do more promoting too with schanuel. i don't really care what the farm system looks like if most of your first rounders are playing on the team and others are contributing. the angels problem is injuries.
  17. are you saying mets fans should be upset with cohen? this failure is 100% on the players and the coaches. they're the ones that put him in a position where he had no choice but to jettison some huge contracts. padres would be the same deal. how much talent can you put on the field before you just tell the players, do something!
  18. just goes to show you how dead noah's arm is. if they don't fix you, then your last and only hope is the rays. otherwise, start planning your career move.
