Thanks for the response.  I'm pretty sure our friends were driving into Rome when they referred to it being hectic and I think they basically parked and got around other ways in the city.  I'd definitely prefer to rent a car to see different parts of Italy and that sounds like the best way to go.

So I have a work trip that came up unexpectedly in mid-September but before I actually have to work the wife and I are planning to go to Dublin where we'll have 3 full days before heading to London.  Any recommendations?  I've never been but it's definitely somewhere I've always wanted to go.  I want to see as much as I can but I also want to get to relax and enjoy it as opposed to having something planned every minute of every day.  So I guess the question is - to those of you that have been to Dublin what are the things you'd do in a 3 day trip that wouldn't leave you dead tired from running around all day?
    Thanks.

It was not as bad as I thought. We rented at Hertz and made sure it was auto transmission. Rates were fair with AAA discount, and Hertz was everywhere.
Make sure to have a good navigation system, and if you bring your own, be sure to update it with the Italy card. Google maps on your phone is a good backup, but there were time that cell service dropped.
I found the many roundabouts annoying. You had to be ready to cut out real quick because sometimes the gps is incorrect.
DO NOT even think about driving in Rome or Florence. One is worse than the next. Nothing is laid out in a common sense way, roads are often packed with cars, motorcycles, scooters, and lots of clueless tourists. There are areas in the cities that you cannot drive unless you have a local permit. Thats why we picked up our car as we left Rome.
It is very easy to drive the local roads, and the autostrade. Signs are easy to read, well marked, and lots of rest stops with fuel, good food, and coffee bars.
Friends of ours go all the time, and they convinced us to drive in order to get to see things you would miss by train.
Hope that helps. LMK if you have any other questions

My wife's Italian (grandfather born there) and Italy is our delayed honeymoon which we plan to take next year.  What can you tell me about driving there?  Some friends honeymooned there 3-4 years ago and said they were comfortable driving in the more rural areas but it was a bit more hectic driving in the big cities.  We want to do a Mediterranean cruise while we're there as well but the majority of our time will be spent traveling through Italy and I'm just trying to figure the best way to go about that.  Great picture and I really want to spend some time somewhere like that.  Thanks in advance.

Of course you want to see more out of a guy who is in the first year of his new 3 year extension but that contract was still a bargain by baseball standards.  Kole is a guy who when he came up there weren't a lot of expectations but aside from Trout he was one of a few bright spots on the team and he averaged over 3 WAR a year from 2014-2016.  Given how bad the team has been offensively if there's a year for him to have a down year this is it because even if he were doing better it wouldn't change trajectory of the team.

It's insane that he's averaging a triple double this year.  Props to him for staying with OKC after Durant left as I figured he'd be on the way out.

Inglewood is still in LA County.  I will always think the name is ridiculous but I don't care as long as they're still playing in OC.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm still peeved about 2005.  The Angels beat the Yankees in a 5 game ALDS where Colon went down in the second inning of game 5 and Santana answered the call.  The next day they started the ALDS in Chicago and I wasn't expecting them to win after a tiring 5 game series but they pulled it off.  Then in game 2 tied 1-1 the infamous Paul/Pierzynski/Eddings play put the winning run on in the 9th and a pinch runner came around to score to even the series.  Over the final 3 games of that series the Angels led for all of 1 inning as I don't think they ever recovered from the game 2 fiasco.  I can't believe that was almost 12 years ago.

I'm more afraid of the Angels throwing that much money at a soon to be 31 year old starting pitcher who has thrown over 2,000 innings between Japan and the US while pitching less than 250 innings from 2014-2016 due to injuries.  This seems like one of those situations where a guy who has had a major injury has a good year in a contract year, gets overpaid and it's very likely that whoever signs him is regretting the last few years of his back loaded contract.
Also I agree that the Angels have so many other needs that I don't want to see them make a move like this in the coming off season.  Currently they're bottom 5 in all of baseball in runs scored per game, OBP, SLG and OPS.  In the AL they're dead last in runs scored per game, 2nd to last in OBP, last in SLG and last in OPS.  Trout missing time obviously impacts these numbers but even if he hadn't been injured they have a lot of holes on offense.  Meanwhile in all of baseball they're middle of the pack in team ERA, starters ERA and 8th in reliever ERA.  The pitching has outperformed any reasonable expectations given the injuries they've had.

I don't disagree - it's merely speculation that gives Simmons something to write about and the type of stuff that seems to fuel too many sports writers these days.  In the end it works because you've got people on here and people out in the real world talking about it.

Of course they would because if they didn't they'd be killed.  Proverbial gun to your head you're going to choose your own life over someone else's as well.  People in this country aren't in the same life or death situation but they choose self preservation all the time and too many have no problem screwing over others for far less than their lives.
Moral of this story regardless of whether or not the kid did took down the sign or stole it is to stay the **** out of North Korea.

It seems like player opt outs became more common in the last few years and I think this happened because the CBA was due to be renegotiated and players knew the salary cap would be rising while they stood to make more in future years.

If Griffin leaves that only leaves Jordan out of the Clipper big 3 and I'll call that karma after he backed out of his handshake deal with Dallas two years back.
