  1. My uncle was a fan from day one and he bought the seat directly from the stadium when they renovated everything back in the 90's. It spent several years up in Oregon until he moved into a smaller house a few years back and gave it to me. I actually live about one mile from the stadium, so the thing traveled up the coast, but made its way back home!
  2. I apologize if this isn't the appropriate forum, but I couldn't tell whether there was a better spot for this post. Anyway, I know that a few of you have Angels mancaves at your homes and I have something you might be interested in. Years ago, I came across an original seat #1 from the stadium. I always thought I'd make a mancave around it, but the thing has just been sitting in my backyard for years. I know this isn't craigslist, so I'm not gonna post pics and prices here, but send me a message or email at ballparknachos@yahoo.com if you're interested in working something out. I'd rather get it to somebody on this site who can truly appreciate it.
  3. While I tend to agree with you, I'm not sure that the Angels can afford to wait until June 1. We all have our own opinions about whether to make changes, but if the front office is even contemplating Scioscia's release, they may as well get it done now. If you wait until June, it will be too late to have any effect on the season. Also, for the sake of argument, its been more than 13 games. The team has been a disappointment for a few years now. Its not just that they've been failing to win the division, but they've been failing to seriously compete when they've had the potential to do so.
  4. The Register has been a joke for a while. It is always behind the LA Times, the OC Weekly etc when it comes to breaking newsworthy stories. Absent the work of one or two reporters (Whiting for one), the stories are usually uniformative and cumulative of other news agencies. I can't imagine that this will be a good move in the long run.
  5. That's the best defense of Reagins/ Wells I've ever read. I'm not saying that I agree, but I applaud the argument.
  6. Too much basketball talk for me. I recognize that its March Madness, but the only baseball conversations that I hear on my drive are during the commercials. My kid and I used to fight over over the radio in the morning, but now I just let her listen to Radio Disney.
  7. Where does Torii Hunter's inflatable furniture investment fall in this discussion?
  8. That's right. No one is questioning your love of the team. They are just questioning your lack of conversational conformity in an online message board.
  9. Apparently, the Angels have to find some way to pay off that $20K raise they gave to Trout. Between the Bobble Head Night, Trout Hat night and 81 games in which an entire section is devoted to the guy, they just might make their money back.
  10. Thanks, my coworker had never seen it before.
  11. Does anyone have a link to that video clip in which Tony Gwynn Jr stole second after Mathis threw to first base? I've searched the internet and can't find it anywhere. Mathis must know people in high places.
  12. "You can put a Halo over this one" was so painful to hear. I still cringe when I think about it.
  13. In Northern California, at the apartment of some female Giant's fan. The painful part was that my brother and dad were at the Stadium, sitting next to Ricky Henderson, calling me as the final out was made. I was stuck in my second year of law school and couldn't get down to Socal because of a 60 page paper due the next day. Worst decision ever.
  14. That's a good point. I suppose I'm basing my position on the assumption that they will try to lock him up before his arbitration years begin.
  15. Or do both. Pay him double this year and offer the big money next year. The alternative is that you piss him off this year, thus hurting negotiations next year. Its still under 1 million and well worth it, if it benefits the team in the long run. There is very little downside.
  16. The Angels would be fools to screw around with this issue. Even at double the salary, it still comes out to less than 1 million. At the end of the day, its chump change for a major league organization and the production they expect to get from Trout is worth more than everyone else on the team. I get that they want to stand their ground, but why risk alienating the "future of baseball" over a fraction of what you are paying plenty of other players with less production. Make the guy happy and pay him in accordance with the salaries guys like Jeter, Howard and Pujols got after earning themselves a similar situation. Unfortunately, I won't be shocked if they come in at less than 700K.
  17. Scioscia is just trying to keep him away from the younger guys in fear that Wells might give them some hitting advice.
  18. 1. The Marine Layer will be blamed for three to four missed opportunities in April; 2. Artie will finally stop playing "Build Me Up Buttercup" in the middle of the seventh and the team will have a record number of actual "rallies" late in the game; 3. A fan will streak the outfield in early August, only to be tackled and tazed by Anaheim's finest. Further investigation will reveal that this fan was actually Roger Lodge, who went on a two week bender after being let go from AM 830 (No malice in this last comment- I actually enjoy the Sports Lodge).
  19. Will someone tell me why Whicker at the OC Register wrote an entire article on the need for the Rangers to "turn the page?" I get that we now have Josh Hamilton on our payroll, but the reasons that a local paper would publish an article sympathizing with the division rival are beyond me. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/rangers-497154-hamilton-year.html
  20. Glad to see that the worst running joke on the old message board has carried over to the new one.
