  1. A short drive up the I-5 has been my guess since last off season. He picked us for the market, and the fact that we could give him both way play, now so can they.
  2. This is part of the problem i had at the deadline... the only path to success is to go after the top FA this off season, the problem with that is all the top guys have massive risks. As people have said Snell has never been consistent with how many innings pitched and such, so even if hes the best available is that a good thing? And thats before we get to guy having career years in a contract year. The only path really open to us is so fraught with risk its almost not worht even doing.
  3. i would prefer top see this move to 1B personally. He likely has the athleticism to pull it off, and the size. I do feel that if hes not going to pitch then playing the field should be on the menu instead of full time DH only to open up options on the roster for 24, assuming he stays of course
  4. There is only one person who can answer this, Arte, and he never answers anything. I see two options that are polar opposites, and neither is following the plan that has been in place which has failed, but hats all speculation till Arte decides who he wants to be moving forward as an owner, or if he wants to be at all. Part of me still thinks he will sell but it was delayed as no new owner wanted to be the guy that lost Ohtnai and/or traded Trout.. so Arte might be the bad guy that gets the golden parachute and thew new owner the savior, but perhaps thats wishful thinking. .
  5. More than it already is from a PR standpoint? Maybe it needs to get shaken... it isnt just about one guy, its about winning, and were not doing that. If Arte isnt going to do what it takes then whats the point of locking Trout into insignificance in baseball history? Hes given his all to this club, maybe we need to do him a solid. Whatever the issues are this club needs a reset worse than any ive ever seen in 50 years watching this game. Were a literal laughing stock even with Trout and Ohtani, how could it get worse without them?
  6. He has already said there will be conversations, what did you think they would be about? Its literally the first time i can recall that he didnt do exactly as you said, thats telling. No one wants to believe or even consider that the club might open next year without Ohtani or Trout, but right now i would say thats maybe 50/50 in terms of chances.
  7. Weve already hit it for me. So many mistakes, mismanagement issues, seemingly running on a laptop instead of actual baseball knowledge, where does it even end? Ive been a fan since the late 70s, and ive never been lower on this team or the game as a whole than i am now. I would rather go back to the little market Autry days than continue this pathetic disgrace of the last few years. Seeing Trout and Ohtani play, in loss after loss, does absolutely nothing for me. There are a solid handful of good stories left, Atl and a few more, but half the league is openly tanking and the other half is playing moneyball. The business of baseball has ruined the game of baseball, and our owner is a pure businessman.
  8. I have always hated this, but id be lying if i said the quality of late supported my argument. I wonder though the impact it would have on the game as, lets be real, no ump is calling the right strike zone on high pitches... that would change literally every batters swings.
  9. Nevin is not the problem.. unfortunately hes also not the solution.
  10. One one hand, yeah, you love to see it... someone that actually gives a damn. On the other, its a really really poor look for the franchise that he has to do that. Im not going to play the they are professionals thing... it goes without saying, but i also recall a scene towards the end of the old "North Dallas Forty" movie where a player went off saying it still needs to be a game over a business... and quite frankly i think thats where a lot of these guys are. The joy of the game just looks... gone. Trout was a different guy in the WBC than he was when he got back for example, and i think losing, falling short, whatever you want to call it has taken a toll on these guys. Blame whatever, injuries, ... it doesnt matter really the outcome is the same. I dont know if they are disheartened, tired, given up checked out or just beaten down by this seasons failures and maybe more than just the season for many of them. Something needs to change... something MUST change
  11. Why? You need Canning to start on Wed, what are the going to do blow him ion relief and then have to recall Rosenberg or someone else to start? Sometimes our roster management makes absolutely no sense.
  12. i cannot make that time but ill pour one out for them at that hour in their honor.
  13. For once we are dead on the same page. Replacing Ohtani without addressing other issues is an utter waste of time and a zero sum equation. I might look other than Belinger but conceptually, yeah.
  14. Havent had a chance to listen yet, care to quick summarize?
  15. Queue bad Nolan Ryan takes or various scenes from Moneyball... Short answer, you dont, you move on as best you can.
  16. Rendon is what it is but the fact weve heard nothing on Stassi is.. odd.
  17. So how that roster performs against others doesn't enter into it.. got it, enjoy.
  18. We have no clue what the roster will even look like next year right now. We have like 10 guys on the 25 man looking at being UFA. Assuming anything about next year right now makes little sense.
  19. If thats how you measure success over the actual standings, all i can say is good luck with that.
  20. And im sure that will all change before nest season starts. Of course it is more of the same, how is this any different than whats been done year after year after year that has yet to yield and positive results. When does your plan see this team being relevant again as we collectively have had this same discussion on this board every off season for as long as i can remember... and gone nowhere! If there was ever a time for drastic, this is it.
  21. So... more of the same. No im not rattled, its been proven a failed approach. Weve done that for the last how many years now? What have we achieved? If anything weve gone backwards. Are you aware of one of the modern definitions of insanity about doing the same thing expecting a different result?
  22. Then offer up another answer. You cant have it both ways, playing the middle has brought us to this point... weve failed at every aspect of it. You want another option, great, lets hear it but if it involved more of the same count me out.
