IIIII got a reaction from ten ocho recon scout in How various Angels will look when they're old men
Whoops wrong thread hahaha

IIIII reacted to Lou in What would you rather have: Trout Success or Team Success
I remember the no-hitter

IIIII got a reaction from Stradling in What would you rather have: Trout Success or Team Success
I'm sure most disagree with my opinion but here it is.
I think you will always choose to have a successful team to watch every year BUT in 40 years I would rather look back and say I watched (maybe) the best player in baseball history on a daily basis over just a team making the playoffs but not winning it all.

IIIII got a reaction from 34red4 in How about Simba & Suarez for Anthony DeSclafani?
I don't think selling Simba at his lowest is smart because realistically he won't garner that much. Same goes with Suarez. Also I don't think Anthony is that great of a player and he will more than likely regress to how he pitched in past years.

IIIII got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Free Agency
It should be on the GM for his selection of players to target and on Arte for how much he is willing to spend. For example, Harvey, Cahill, and Allen are on Eppler. Arte gave Eppler the money and trusted him to make the correct decision, which he didn't.

IIIII reacted to Docwaukee in Angels fire Brad Ausmus
Maybe they found out that he cheated on the entrance exam and that Felicity Huffman paid someone to take the test for him.
-
IIIII reacted to tdawg87 in Eppler is for sure on the hot seat now...
That.... literally means he's on the hot seat.

And comments like that are what creates unnecessary and untruthful rumors about people. Last thing Trout would do.

IIIII got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Olney: “Brad Ausmus is in jeopardy of losing his job as manager of the Angels”
All in on Maddon or this is a bad move. A lot of work to do this off-season but there is a clear idea of what needs to happen.

IIIII got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Angels fire Brad Ausmus
I did really like some of the fundamentals Asmmus brought to the table.
- Better selection at the plate, which led to more walks and contact.
- Playing the hot hand and not Scioscia's terrible stick to the plan approach
I didn't like his handling of the bullpen, that was terrible. Also some of his general decision making was bad. Too many mistakes for my liking.

IIIII reacted to Jeff Fletcher in L.A. Times Skaggs illustration: Tasteless?
I don’t know if it’s tasteless. I think it’s just bad. The “blind eye” is not a thing, like the drugs. Also, alcohol shouldn’t be a skeleton because its legal and lots of people drink it.
So if you’re trying to make the point that the Angels were ignoring drug use, this illustration doesn’t do it. It doesn’t really make any point. It’s just kind of weird and creepy looking.
Also, as far as I can tell it’s a stand alone illustration on the letters page. It doesn’t go with a story.

IIIII got a reaction from Ace-Of-Diamonds in Gameday Thread: 9/4 Angels @ Athletics : Ohtani hits 5th
I think Ohtani broke. He looks like the spring training hitter form last year. Just horrible.
I’m curious what Trout’s stats would be without the juiced ball because he’s looked off this season more than any other season. I feel like the HR total has really boosted his all around stats, which would otherwise be poor for him.

IIIII got a reaction from Taylor in Tyler Skaggs autopsy results
I think a lot of us thought OD but we’re not journalists from a well known journal in LA claiming something in a public format. What they posted was totally out of line even now.

IIIII reacted to Blarg in Tyler Skaggs autopsy results
Journalism is supposed to be facts not speculation reported as fact. The author was making shit up for clicks. He should be censored from getting a press credential for any Angels events.

IIIII reacted to Blarg in OC Register: Tyler Skaggs died of fentanyl, oxycodone, alcohol mixture, coroner says
These threads should stay open. This is a baseball discussion board and it is a national topic. If any mods feel they can't participate then don't but let the members discuss within reasonable constraints that are employed in all baseball discussion.

IIIII reacted to Biergott in OC Register: Tyler Skaggs died of fentanyl, oxycodone, alcohol mixture, coroner says
Had this typed up and went to post it on the other thread but it got locked. Mods, feel free to delete if you want.
I fall in the middle between the polarized posts in that thread. As someone who has been on opioids for nearly a decade after 4 failed spinal fusions (and a fifth coming soon) I understand their need. Without them I can't get out of bed. With them I can be a fully functional father and employee with a solid senior management position. I can be physically active (to some extent) and not some wheelchair bound junkie. But that is because I respect my doctor, and he understands my needs. I respect the medication, and while I know I need it, I also despise taking it. I always take the lowest amount to just get by, not enough to make the pain go away. There are months that the doc would increase my prescription and I decline, because I know I can get through it. There are times that my doc pushes me to lower my dose if I have been at an elevated level. It's a shitty situation, but I have a good doc, and I have to balance this to be a good father and member of society as well. But chronic pain is no joke.
As someone who has and is on them for such a long time, I do feel qualified to speak about it. And honestly, I don't see how it could transition to recreation. It isn't a "fun" drug at all. At least it never has been for me. And to escalate after being prescribed for a medical issue or pain, makes no sense to me. I do agree it IS absolutely stupid. Because any doc worth his salt would explain the potential pitfalls and complications. Plus you'd have to be absolute BLIND and DEAF in this day and age to NOT hear about the opioid crisis. And I can say, as someone taking them, I am absolutely even more aware of those stories than someone who isn't.
What I can't speak to is if there were other things at play: depression, demons from something in his past, addiction issues. Because obviously, I don't suffer from these. My situation would absolutely be a tinderbox at an oil refinery if I did.
So again, it's super easy to pass judgement, and some people probably are in order to deal with the situation. But unless we were in those shoes, and in that room we will never know what actually happened.
Point is, no matter what happened, it doesn't lessen the tragedy. He's still gone, his family still hurts, and his friends still grieve. Just sucks all around.
As I said earlier, I hope whoever was dealer, is caught and prosecuted to the fullest. I hope any other potential teammates in similar situations get help. I wish that the union would allow everyone to get tested. It is life and death.

On a relative scale, this has to be the worst year in Angels' history.
What an end to a shitty decade.

I doubt the players feel that way about Tyler's patch so who really gives rat's ass what some keyboard warriors think about it?

IIIII got a reaction from Lou in Has anyone here ever driven cross country and visited baseball stadiums along the way?
You need to be around the stadium before and after their games. An absolutely unreal atmosphere that makes me so jealous. I think it’s peak baseball fandom for me.
-
IIIII reacted to Mark68 in Has anyone here ever driven cross country and visited baseball stadiums along the way?
This actually sounds like a really cool idea. Just fly somewhere and drive to all the stadiums you can get to in X days, and do a new area every year. I might have to start doing that.
-
IIIII got a reaction from beatlesrule in Has anyone here ever driven cross country and visited baseball stadiums along the way?
Every year I fly to a different state then drive across 2-3 states and visit stadiums. I love seeing new places and getting the chance to visit new stadiums to watch a game is the cherry on top. I've been to ~85% of current stadiums so almost there! It's a total blast and you're going to have an amazing time that you'll never forget.

IIIII reacted to Justin in Gameday Thread: 8/27 Rangers @ Angels
After he hurt his wrist in 2015, he hit .218 for the month of August.
In late 2017, he was so crappy-by-his-standards that his batting average went from .348 to .307 in the span of just over five weeks. (He hit .237 in September of that season.)
This stretch will pass, too. But it still sucks to watch this team when he's slumping.

IIIII reacted to Angelsjunky in Trout slump
His fWAR is down from 8.5 a few days ago to 8.3 after today's game.
I still think he'll limp his way to 10, but I was really hoping for 10.5 - which would be the best season of any active player (Mookie Betts was 10.4 last year, Buster Posely 10.4 in 2012).
31 games, 1.7 fWAr to 10.0, 2.2 to 10.5.
(I know its silly, but what else do I have at this point?!)
