  1. Hey,

Is the place clean? My wife and kids will kill me if it's dumpy. We chose this place because it is between Santa Cruz and Monterey. It came down to this place, or the Seascape Resort down the road.

    BW Seacliff got better reviews

Its super clean dude, you have nothing to worry about. It's not sketchy at all. Has an Italian restaurant attached, friendly service, average continental breakfast, right off the freeway. Not much more you can ask for. It's really close to Santa Cruz (10 minutes). If you have the time I highly advise you to check out the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=546

Really easy to get there. About 25 minutes from the motel. Beautiful walking trails through Redwood forests, They have a train that you can ride through the forest, all around an amazing State Park. My cousin used to work for a zipline company that ziplines through the forest also which is something to think about. I think you and your kids would love it. My wife and I took our engagement pictures there, best decision. So if you have a day to hang in Santa Cruz I would do the Redwoods in the morning and hang out at the Santa Cruz pier in the afternoon/evening. Something to think about.

Thanks! You never are sure. We planned on hitting the HC Redwoods park and the train. Def doing ziplines, either in South Lake Tahoe or Redwoods.

Is the SC pier and SC boardwalk the same thing? Is the beach worth it either in SC, or Seacliff? I hear the water is too cold.

I guess it depends on what the weather is like but usually up there it's never really hot enough to enjoy the freezing cold water (maybe for Jerseyites like yourself though :)). Yes the pier and boardwalk is ultimately the same thing. They are both walking distance from each other. If you Google Earth the Santa Cruz boardwalk you'll see the boardwalk with rides and directly next to it is the pier. The boardwalk is fun for a bit with the rides and all. What's cool about it is it's pretty much unchanged since the 1920s. I'm sure your kids will enjoy it. The pier has some nice little restaurants and places to eat. Usually there are harbor seals hanging around. Downtown Santa Cruz is nothing more than your typical college downtown area. Record stores, places to eat, etc. so you don't have to go there if you don't want.
