So, drunkpost: This has just been a shitshow of the last ten days or so for me. My grandmother passed away last Sunday (the 8th). She was 93 and went peacefully at home. She was an awesome woman that I was quite close to. Mainly feel bad for my 95 year old grandfather. Looks like I’ll likely have to cancel my flight out for her funeral.
 
Then on that Tuesday I got word that one of my best friends died randomly in his sleep at 36. I lived with this guy and his brother all through college and stayed close over the years. Just a fucking stomach punch.
 
Last Friday was also the one year anniversary of my father’s passing too. Just like this random wall of death and shit has hit me lately, and now apparently the country is kinda shutting down. But fuck me if I’m not engineering the shit out of stuff at work.

Keep your head up Don. As fast as things can go south they can bounce back. This is going to be a trying time for all of us and we may incur great losses but I have no doubt that we will be better people for it on the other end of the abyss.

I think I mentioned it a few days ago. IF this is what is being kicked around and being considered, just do it now and get it over worth. There is no point in delaying the inevitable. All youre doing is allowing it to spread while you wait.

Less than a year ago 58% of people surveyed had less than $1,000 in savings for an emergency while almost half of those had $0.  Even if all of those people got new jobs, raises, cut expenses or whatever the reality is over the last 10 months they wouldn't save up months worth of living expenses and we can bet most didn't add to their savings.  There's nothing like this situation in any of our lifetimes to even use as a measuring stick.  The virus itself is one unknown and from that we get the unknown of how long this plays out and when we start to get back to some kind of normalcy.  My wife and I have jobs that aren't going anywhere and I realize how lucky we are because too many people can't say that in this situation.  Restaurants, bars, cruises, airlines, retailers and so on which employ a lot of people are going to get hammered.
