  1. And further, why are you bothered by Hunter Biden’s potentially shady dealings in Ukraine, but unfazed by the fact that the former U.S. President attempted to hold foreign aid hostage in exchange for receiving political dirt on his political opponent? If you can’t see the difference between the two, then you my friend are the one who can’t see the forest through the trees.
  2. What does the laptop from hell have to do with my views on the economy? Your attempt to connect the two makes no sense. And FWIW, I am an employment defense attorney. I represent companies - small and large - in all matters employment related. That necessarily requires me to have a decent understanding of economics, business, and the impact of law on business. I am not aloof, as you incorrectly surmise.
  3. IMO, the most encouraging indicator for Ward is that after a blazing start and then horrific slump, he finished with a near 1.000 OPS over his last 36 games. I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect him to slash .280/.340/.460/.800, which will make him a very valuable player.
  4. The laptop from hell. Why is nobody talking about it? It’s an issue if significant national importance.
  5. I think the key is spreading the money around to multiple players. Upgrading at left field (Renfroe), SP (Anderson), and the corners (Urshela) is likely to have a bigger impact than, say, shortstop alone (even if that player is Correa).
  6. Bummer on Kluber. I think the Angels should have been all over him. But Wacha or Cueto would still be help the team.
  7. I think my preference is Kluber. Should be cheaper, no loss of a draft pick, and perhaps less of a health risk. But Eovaldi, if healthy, offers much more upside.
  8. Yeah, he isn’t ever pitching again in the big leagues.
  9. The staff as a whole needs a couple more arms. Ideally that would be a good starter (Eovaldi) and a good pen piece. More realistically, I think they add two pen pieces - perhaps another signing, and perhaps an unexpected trade.
  10. Disagree. He is a good player. He had a great season last year, is young, and doesn’t cost much. Assuming he stays healthy, he is a likely QO candidate. Realistically, I think he costs something like Bush and Paris to acquire. Or maybe Bush and one of the lower level, but more highly regarded MI guys in our system.
  11. That sounds right on Eovaldi. But Andrus was pretty terrible the last three years before 2022, so I’d be kind of surprised if his market got to 12-14.
  12. I’d be okay with Andrus if the contract doesn’t exceed 1/8. I also think Eovaldi would be a good addition.
  13. I actually think Hosmer would be a great depth addition. He was an above average offensive player as recently as the first half of last year. And if Walsh is capable of covering a corner outfield spot on occasion, all the better.
  14. And I’ll add that I think bringing in Swanson to shore up the infield could, health permitting, make this a 90+ win team. I really hope the team is making a push for him.
  15. Somewhere around 76-80 wins. But in the event they have better than typical health, which is of course possible, that could jump to 85-86 wins.
  16. I am surprised with how quiet Perry has been the last two weeks. He can’t be finished - this team is improved, but not enough.
  17. So what do you anti war guys propose? Do nothing and let Russia take Ukraine? Do you think they will stop there? Won’t they become an ever bigger problem when they have taken over half of Europe and the west has lost a whole lot of leverage over them? Some of you like to criticize, but you have no good alternative to propose (or what you propose is obviously far worse).
  18. I want a shortstop and a starter. I think Correa isn’t happening. I’d be happy with Swanson if the price isn’t prohibitive. And one of Bassit or Eovaldi (I think Rodon is too costly). While I don’t think there is any chance the team will add Swanson and Bassit, doing so would make them competitive for the division IMO.
  19. He’d be a steal for that. I think he gets a fourth year, and maybe even a slightly higher AAV. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him get something like 4/76 or even 4/84.
  20. I am on board with bringing Lorenzen back. He was decent last year, and finished the year very strong. While I’d love to see a top of the rotation arm brought in, I think the money would be better used on Lorenzen and a shortstop.
  21. Me too. But if the Angels really made a big offer to Contreras, I think there is little doubt they are heavily in on Swanson, Senga, and others.
  22. Absolutely. One more starter, one more pen piece, and a shortstop.
  23. That’s absurd money for Judge. I realize last year was historic and he is an excellent player. But he also has an injury history and is on the wrong side of 30. I don’t see this contract aging well.
  24. And you can bet they will stupidly continue to follow their orange God. I used to want to see Trump perish. I am now enjoying watching his complete destruction of the Republican Party.
