  1. I met Sam Bachman in July in San Diego. Angels were playing the Padres and we were staying at the same hotel. He was the NICEST, most decent, most humble guy you will ever meet. I will forever be a fan of his, as will my nine year old. His arm could fall off, and I’ll still be rooting for the guy.
  2. I don’t think Canning or Sandoval have the trade value to be centerpieces of either deal.
  3. This is true, I can attest to this. My good friend told me about the Scherzer and Turner trade to the Dodgers well before it happened (maybe half a day before it was reported). He has a connection in the Dodgers organization who told him.
  4. I’d stay far away from Chapman. I would target Nola, Snell, Eduardo Rodriguez, and an outfielder. This team badly needs solid starting pitching.
  5. Sad, I feel bad for the kid. Few things are worse than wasted potential, especially his degree of it.
  6. A friend of mine is connected to the organization and he has been complaining about Tamin for months. Sounds like a number of people in the organization blame Tamin for the poor pitching this year.
  7. I saw this thread topic and immediately thought “what do we need in order to be competitive next year?”
  8. Why are the Nationals so far down, despite their record?
  9. I look forward to the day that Trump ceases to exist as a human being. Unfortunately the ignorant MAGA movement will continue on with some new authoritarian stepping up in his place.
  10. I would do as close to a full rebuild as you can. I probably wouldn’t bring in any free agents, unless it is guys who might have value at the deadline. Give Neto, Schanuel, and O’Hoppe a full year of consistent playing time. And see if you are better positioned to compete in 2025.
  11. I went Estevez, Drury and Moniak. But I guess Neto could replace Drury or Moniak.
  12. Bill Clinton perjured himself over a private sexual matter. Is that worse than attempting to subvert democracy? Obama might have been the most ethical president in U.S. history (please tell me what crimes he committed). And Biden’s son is a shithead, but no worse than Trump’s son.
  13. If Trump doesn’t win next year and pardon himself, or else get a pardon from one of the other MAGA republicans, he is going to spend the rest of his pathetic, senile life in federal prison. Couldn’t happen to a more decent guy.
  14. Get Verlander, then this team is the best team (on paper) in the AL West once Trout returns.
  15. The next move will be another huge move? Like Goldschmidt, Verlander, or even Juan Soto? You kind of wonder if Arte might be ready to push every chip in. I am confident they aren’t done, and confident they are looking for a game changer and not merely another role player.
  16. I like this move. Life is short - we only have so many chances to see playoffs in our lifetime. Arte and Perry are showing real balls with this. And on paper at least, this team should have the talent to make a run. Getting Drury, Trout and hopefully O’Hoppe back will only help. And I’m guessing they aren’t done.
  17. I’m not even sure I do that, depending on what happens against the Yankees.
  18. I say no, for the reason that I think Scioscia is a terrible manager with respect to young players. He is great in many ways, but not a young player’s manager, and the game is increasingly getting younger. In fact, I don’t think he and Minasian could gel, given Minasian’s aggressive manner of promoting prospects (and presumably expecting the manager to play them).
  19. Good. It’s the right call. This organization needs a massive overhaul. They should be listening on just about everyone except Neto, O’Hoppe and Detmers.
  20. This. The schedule is brutal. There is little chance the Angels play even .500 ball going forward, let alone .667.
  21. I agree with this. I can see a salary in the $55 mil range for 10-12 years, which would take him north of $600 mil. But then again, who is actually going to be willing to pay that?
  22. I bet you are right - Thaiss probably has much more trade value than we realize. But he also seems critically important to this team’s success (which I don’t think anyone would have said just two months ago). Funny how baseball works.
