  1. Although I saw the play, I suppose due to me working at the time I didn't realize the ball had literally bounced off of the bag or any of those shenanigans. I realize/hope this thread is in jest, since it seems clear to me that Pujols is not 100% yet.
  2. Realistically no, Jimenez is not our next Trout. I doubt he will be able to post these numbers for an entire season, but I'll certainly be rooting for him to do so. In the long run, it'd be great if he could develop into our starter at 3rd base.
  3. If this has anything to do with Pujols' inability to run the bases, then I concur with what tomsred said. Regardless, our offense put up 6 runs today, a number that is fairly competitive and should win you the average baseball game. However, our pitching staff is incompetent and hasn't been able to keep us in games. EDIT: Pujols wins the race
  4. We may have an offense that has the potential to score big, but we are not going to win on a consistent basis so long as our pitching is where it's at. I'm growing weary of the fact that we may have to trade for some pitching. Even if Richards becomes a permanent solution and given Weaver returns, we are still going to be a pitcher short.
  5. I was fortunate enough to have been invited to this game last minute. The field-level seats were great, and seeing Trout and Hamilton go deep really made my day. Great win!
  6. If I'm not mistaken, it took Trout a couple of weeks last season to really catch on fire. He definitely contributed to our victory today, and I'll go out on a limb here to predict his first home run tomorrow.
  7. Maybe he'll be able to settle down and just try to hit the ball now that he has his first homer. He's got his first knock, but he needs to overall hit more efficiently. I don't really think we can expect Hamilton to be a consistent .300 hitter, but he should at the very least put up respectable numbers in addition to his power. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I feel like he can finish this season with a .270 +/- .010 if he addresses his incredibly high strike out rate early.
  8. I'm very excited that our team pulled it through in the clutch! Even though I was working, I was able to catch glimpses of the game during the key moments. It's great to see Hamilton get his first knock (here's hoping for 3 more tomorrow) and for Pujols to come through for us in the clutch. I wasn't really able to see this Roth player I've been hearing about on the boards, but hopefully I get to see him in tomorrow's game. Great win!
  9. It's really tough for me to go against placing Trout as the lead-off hitter as he's proven to succeed in that spot. He has enough plate discipline to get deep into counts and draw walks, and his base speed adds pressure to the pitchers going up against our second and third hitters. Although he does have the power to hit in men on base, I still think he helps the team the most as our lead-off guy. In an ideal future, maybe Bourjous can mature as a consistent hitter and take up the mantle. He provides the speed that Callaspo lacks and can hopefully develop the plate discipline that Aybar will never show. As for Aybar, I believe he would be best served as a #2 hitter if you're going to place him that high up on the order.
  10. I would like to think this is an isolated incident involving one or two bad apples, but from what I've read on this board and have seen for myself it seems to be a more significant issue. If multiple ushers have people leave for being "rowdy," is it possible that they are being overly sensitive as a by-product of their training? Like others have said here, I do think this needs to be known by the higher-ups in the organization who actually have the power to implement changes to the staff and their philosophy. Overall, it was piss-poor customer service on what should have been a great experience given it was the opening day.
