  1. May all who are celebrating the holiday tonight find peace, comfort, and joy in the true meaning of the holiday.
  2. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the best #AngelsFamily on the internet!
  3. Nice! Welcome Peter Gammons. We do a fine job covering/debating/discussing the Angels here.
  4. “The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers.”
  5. When in doubt, blame the lawyers. It's a good policy. In this case, on this issue, blaming the lawyers is the reason why they so hastily made the rule change (and did so while not even thinking through the collisions at 2B). The league is absolutely afraid of any potential litigation. Worse yet, they don't want a rift to develop between MLB and Little League where Little League has to ban the wipeout collision while the pros do not. Joe is right on point here and wrote a great article.
  6. LMAO! He did indeed, but only after many Bothans died to bring us that information.
  7. Doc, have to hand it to you for some original thinking. I will have to think about this some more. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure what Akbar can net us. And, I really think the whole hold up is on whether or not Tanaka gets posted. Once that is decided and we know more we stand in terms of signing him, decisions like this become more or less palatable.
  8. Chuck, I like your attempt to think "outside the box" and hope that the Angels have people and discussions like this to see what ways they can shake things up. Having talked with Dipoto, I know he likes original thinking like this. However, as others have pointed out, the defense would take too much of a hit to justify the move. Now if we could get a upper echelon pitcher by trading Aybar, I would consider it if we could get a legitimate DH to balance out the offensive drop to Romine.
  9. Thanks gang for the kudos. Having children does give rise to many more good baseball stories.
  10. I would be willing to give Chavez 1-2 starts a week in the field between 3B and 1B.
  11. I think he'd be just as shocked it you showed him a picture of how he's turned out as an adult. Scary!
  12. Baseball may be getting PEDs out of the game, but clearly the crack pipe is still being passed around the player agents!
  13. If we could get Chavez for about $2.5-$3 million on a 1-year deal, maybe with an option, and have him get about 200-250 ABs between 3B, 1B and DH, I think that would be good. He could provide relief for Freese at 3B once a week and Pujols at 1B once a week. That should still leave enough to get Garza.
  14. Both are risks. One is injury prone. One is 41. Both are lefties. Of the two, I think Chavez could be had for less money than Ibanez. We don't have much depth at 3B. If we have to play Romine or Jimenez there, we would be back to a huge dropoff in production for the lineup in that spot. And, if we have to play Calhoun at 1B, we have to play Shuck back in the OF. Given all of that, I could easily see the Angels going back and signing Chavez to backup both corner infield spots and get an occasional DH start. What do you guys think?
  15. This morning my sons were talking about Pujols is going to come back big-time next year and that Trout should bat third in front of him. I may have to write another article!
  16. I followed your lead Ellen and stayed in the same spot. Good article on the joy of the day!
  17. Welcome aboard! Good article out of the gate. I disagree about giving them a plaque in the HOF because that will then lead to the extension for all agents and I do not think that they should be in there. I think that possibly making an exhibit about the labor issues and the change to free agency would be worthwhile, and included in that should be stuff on Curt Flood and others who helped change the game. That would be informative and educational for all visitors.
  18. And miss a chance to get some more info???? Never!!!!! (and who cares about the 4 hour delay I caused on the I-5!
  19. I'm willing to bet that you weren't the only one . . . Look at my sentence for how the word is used in context.
  20. AngelsWin.com's new slogan: Where Angels fans go to twitterpate!
  21. Good analysis. This was a clear win, even if I will miss seeing the Trumbombs in Anaheim.
  22. Just answering the question in the title thread . . . He gets his car insurance at Geico.
  23. Trading Trumbo for Ordorizzi or Walker would leave us about $20 million to use to sign Garza without hitting g the payroll tax. If the Mariners land Cano, then all 3 teams are improved and in a win now mode.
