Life became much better when I realized I didn't love my job...hell, didn't even really like it...but it was an ends to a means. I work to make the money to do the things I really want to do...travel...photograph...experience things. Once I put things in perspective both work, and outside life, became much better.
Sure, I'd love to make a living doing something like photography full-time...but that's not happening anytime soon because people and companies are cheap bastards...but I'm finding it's a nice way to add some additional coin to the bank account.
 
On that note...holidays coming up...school's started...so anyone who needs photos....I'm pretty flippin' good.

Why the hell would we continue to allow the whitewashing of our history? The South seceding wasn't a glorious movement in our history, it was a war of treason to continue a way of life and economic model based on slavery. Monuments to the confederates are tantamount to building statues to traitors. Most of the monuments in place today where put in place to glorify treason and instill fear in blacks. We don't put up statues to the Japanese and German armies, or the British Army who fought against us in the Revolutionary War or War of 1812.
If you are a black citizen in the south, or someone who didn't commit/celebrate treason how does it feel to walk into a city center and see a statue celebrating treason and slavery?
If you want to celebrate "your history", bigotry, and a way of life (racism/jim crow laws, etc) build a museum of intolerence and collect all the statues you want, they'll need to go someplace as communities start to rightfully remove them from our public places.

I think my favorite part about LT is even if you agreed with him, he would still argue with you, and if you pointed it out, he’d argue with you that he wasn’t arguing with you

when you lay out it in a single thread...holy crap we have a lot of annoying douchebags (self included)

My father worked two jobs when my younger sister and I were growing up. He did it so my mother could stay at home, but as a result I had very little relationship with my father when I was growing up. When my parents divorced, when I was teenager, that put a further wedge between us...I was 14 and starting to live my life. But what I will always remember is that he insisted my youngest sister, who was over 10 years younger than my other sister and I, spend every weekend with him. I respected that, he wasn't going to make the same mistake as he did with the two of us. And by mistake I don't meant he worked hard so we could have a better life, but the fact that he didn't have a relationship with us. I watch her with my sister, and his grandchildren, and I don't get jealous...but I also realize I won't have those same memories as they do.
 
As I grew older, and learned from his second wife, of his catting ways, we grew farther apart. When he was married the second time, I was his best man. He never told me, when I arrived at the ceremony he just assumed I knew and didn't seem to care that it bothered me.
 
Now he has found who he should be with and has been with her for over a decade...and while we aren't as close as I think either of us wish we would be...we are closer than we have been in the past. I think we both struggle because we are very similar. We are both introverts, stubborn, and always right. Small talk is torture.We don't argue...we say our piece and then retreat in to silence because we've said what we had to say and that's it...we are right and just accept it.
 
Story I will always remember...my father and his current wife are very very quiet, that whole side of the family is. You know that uncomfortable silence...my family can sit there at a dinner table for 15 minutes and not say anything...and nobody gives a shit. So I take my girlfriend at the time, Italian girl...to dinner...and I think it would be funny not to warn her. I watch her and she is getting visibly uncomfortable by the second...shifting in her seat. At some point she almost just starts babbling incoherently. We get in the car later and she is sobbing, thinking that my family hates her and it takes me days to convince her that that is completely normal. Years later I made sure I gave the woman who later became my wife a heads up...and she still thought it was the weirdest ****ing thing she ever witnessed. When we go over there she starts pouring drinks in everyone and it's actually livened the place up a bit.

Just finished up the last few episodes. What fantastic television...the scenes in the cabin were cracking me up, with Dodd scared to death of the wife.
 
UFO scenes were the only WTF...but seriously, this season was up there in the top 5 of all time. The Mike Milligan character was brilliant. Ted Danson was awesome as well. Bravo.

Seriously? Yeah, that would have made a big difference. To me it works perfectly. Loved his retort to Lou when Lou mentioned how friendly folks in South Dakota here

I think the Mike Milligan character is fantastic. His interaction with Hank (Danson) and Lou (the other cop)...those scenes were classic.

Because it's awesome...and if you aren't watching it, you should be...and if you are watching it...discuss it (and Season 1) here.

people get that shit questioning their intelligence all the time...I don't see you rushing in here to clean that up...grow a pair...jesus christ...what is it about trumpers that makes them such thin skinned pansies?

ps...you need to work on your understanding of facts vs. opinion. Just because you believe something to be true, doesn't make it a fact...you know...like just because you post a video doesn't mean you've watched it.

That's my point. If you want to ban him for racist shit, he could have. Most of us here, myself included have posted racist shit. Banning him for calling the press secretary a stripper is pure political.
