  1. With our bullpen? Hmmm....

  2. It appears the David Fletcher we all grew to know and love may well be alive and well after all. Some great, heads-up base-running last night and a 3 hit game backed up by these stats: Last 15 days - .372 BA (5th in AL) June - .357 BA (5th in AL) .063 strikeout pct in June leads the AL. .105 strikeout percentage YTD is 2nd in the AL And according to the Tigers commentators last night, Fletch has now gone 32 plate appearances since his last swing and miss. He's back, now let's hope he stays.

  5. Sorry in Japanese English! Nov. 13, 2106 WBC (World Baseball Classic) at Tokyo Dome home run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aly3AnfUHdA Ohtani's hit ball entered the gap between the glass fiber membranes on the ceiling of Tokyo Dome. Tokyo Dome has an air support structure, the height of the highest part of the ceiling is 61.69m (about 202ft) above the playing surface. The height of the roof is based on the data of the tallest fly by Babe Ruth. # At the sports news shows in Japan, it is excited about Ohtani's participation (as a first Japanese player and the first pitcher) in the Home Run Derby. # Some people are worried about breaking the batting form and excessive impact on his body.

  6. I've got nothing to add other than I saw AJ posted and wanted to make sure he didn't write anything complementary about the team.

  7. Just another example of YCPB (You can't predict ball). If this time last year, you would've said that a year from now, Taylor Ward and Jared Walsh would be our #3-4 hitters, Patrick Sandoval would be the second best starting pitcher on the staff, outperforming Bundy, Heaney and Canning, and Suarez would be a shut down multi-inning reliever (ok that one was more believable) and Shohei Ohtani would be the front runner for AL MVP, I'd have thought you were crazy. Does anyone have any completely unbelievable predictions for next year? It has to be something competent out there. Rengifo leading the league in all-star voting at shortstop? Thaiss leading all MLB catchers in HR's? Sandoval leading the league in K's? Chris Rodriguez being mentioned among the best closers in baseball?

  8. Man, there is just nothing really encouraging watching Bundy. Fortunately they are playing a team like the Tigers so the game is tied but he just continues to look terrible

  9. No one wants to hear this but the Angels may have the depth to replace Bundy and Quintana but they don’t have the depth to remove both of those guys off the roster. This is not me advocating keeping them in the rotation it is just a fact that you need depth. You only have to follow the Angels for a month or two to know that pitchers health is always in question.

  12. I mean we all know what's going to happen; the Angels will play just well enough to not be "sellers" but just poorly enough to not be buyers. We'll trade Raisel Iglesias for a 27 year old reliever in AA, and Bundy for cash considerations.

  13. decision was made when Albert was still on the team so he could be in bed by 930.

  14. Jackson and Thaiss with hrs. Thaiss also threw a runner out trying to steal. Quick as hell and throw was right on the money. Thrown out 4 of 13 this year so far. BTW, that's 40 rbi for Jackson in 35 games. Jackson's career minor league line - 143 games, 562 at bats, 34 doubles, 8 triples, 38 hrs, 128 rbi, 56 walks, 208 k. 22/5 sb/cs. .256/.324/.548/.872 Adell was 0-5 with 3k. .990 ops along with a .326 obp for the year. I am very much against bringing him up again. Thankfully, there's really no reason to. Thaiss pulled his hr tonight so it doesn't count. Andrew Wantz made the start for SLC tonight. 3ip, 1h, 0bb, 4k. 2.79 era on the season. Peripherals are ok. not great. What I would probably call a 3/4ths delivery with good velo (probably touches mid 90's) and arm side movement of the fastball. tight slider. not a ton of depth. but a pretty good pitch. Could be a guy we see soon for the pen.

  15. Joe and I have met for lunch before but it was very frustrating. I wanted to talk about how he was using the bullpen but he kept pushing the conversation back to psychedelic mushrooms and old reruns of Laverne & Shirley. I only use the tofu on special occasions, and lunch with Maddon doesn’t qualify for something so important.

  18. So Sandoval will turn out better than Canning while Adell and Marsh are blocked by Walsh and Ward. Angels baseball.

  19. Matt Thaiss needs to be up, but there's a simpler answer here. Here's a few things to consider: - Thaiss isn't relegated to 1B. He can play all over the diamond and catcher. - Rendon is still on the mend. - The team specifically got rid of Pujols so that Walsh could play 1B, because Walsh is a very good defensive 1B and this team's defense sucks. - LHB with power at Angel Stadium do pretty well ever since they put they ridiculous yellow line in. It plays like Coors Field to RF now. Matt Thaiss is a LHB with power. - Players of his ilk need major league reps. Just look at what happened with Ward as soon as he got his opportunity. - The backup catcher on this team isn't a defensive specialist but an offensive specialist at catcher. Simply put, the Angels now have an even better offensive option than Kurt Suzuki. -------- I would personally wait until the deadline to cut bait on Suzuki though. It gives Thaiss more time to develop as a catcher. His future is actuality pretty intriguing as an offensively capable catcher, first baseman and third baseman.

True, but @WicketMaiden is getting likes so we're at least acknowledging that it's a good thread.

    Can you fix stuff?

I’ve had to replace several of those posi-temp cartridges in the shower and they can be a pain in the butt to remove the old ones. Even with the designated puller

  30. I really hope rengifo pans out. I remember talking to Tim Meade about him once, and he was pretty high on him. Moreso, if he and ward work out, we can feel better about that trade for pederson not going through. As in finally some luck went our way for once.

  32. Ohtani is insane. Not sure how long he can keep it up. But so far this season, hes every bit the myth/hype he was before we signed him Darvish on the mound, Matsuis power, and Ichiros speed

  35. He sure doesn't have anything left to prove in AAA.

  36. Yes I'd give him a go at 1B with Walsh in RF. If Thaiss thrives at 1B and Walsh and Ward continue to shine, then with the outfielders in the minors behind them we've got some really nice trade pieces.

  38. It seems like now would be a good time to give him a shot, moving Walsh to RF and Ward to CF, with Lagares as the 4OF.
