  1. my guess it that wouldn't have bothered him much considering he's playing with a bunch of guys who cheated for years. He got the money he wanted. plain and simple.

  4. I love the knuckle ball and that's a cool video. I remember when we used to warm up before games and you'd be in pairs of two down the outfield line on the side of your dugout. Pretty much everyone would be throwing knuckle balls to each other. It was kinda dangerous actually as once in awhile one would really dance and someone would take it right in the pucker. I remember one of our coaches passing by with 'Goddammit, knock it off with that knuckle ball crap!'

  5. I wish it was just Adell, but since Wood and Trout, it's always the same. If a guy isn't Trout at hello then he's shit. Angel fans have become really black and white when it comes to prospects and if called on it it's always the same excuse "I'm just tired of being burned by hyped up prospects". Well, then stop paying attention to the sources that talk up hype and take a deeper look at what players are actually doing. It's not like it's 1990, where the only measures readily are the standard triple slash stats and the only place to see minor league info is in the Sporting News and Base

  6. HOFer Hoyt Wilhelm was the first one that the Halos had, in 1969. At age 46, he put up a 2.47 ERA and sub 1.00 WHIP in 65 innings in 1969.

  7. There was a short time we had a knuckleball SP in consecutive years. Steve Sparks, Dennis Springer, Tom Candiotti was in spring one year. I love when there are 1 or 2 in the league. Dickey was insane with his.

  8. Yes, all true, and I think this sort of thing is generally not understood by many fans, who tend to view baseball as akin to fantasy baseball, forgetting that there are real humans involved. On the other hand, team chemistry also includes creating a culture where a manager can say, "Sorry, Albert, but you're just not performing to the level that we need, so we're going to minimize your at-bats to situations in which you excel. We could use your wisdom and experience on the bench, though."

  12. Its not bullshit. It is very true. Another HOF basketball coach said he never talked about winning. He said his goals were: 1. To be the hardest working team in the country And 2. Have pride in themselves and teammates. Winning is a by product of reaching those goals. That said, you could be the hardest working team in history and have all the pride in the world. If you do not have talent, you are not going top win. The issue of chemistry only impacts the game when there is a slight disparity of talent between teams.

  18. It's quite mainstream that one, not sweary at all. Others of a similar ilk are: dullard; halfwit; plank; blithering idiot, dunce, dolt. Those are all rated PG. Us Brits are such a stiff lot that struggle with real feelings so we do insults a lot, almost as a term of endearment. As a general rule, if a Brit insults you in a non-aggressive manner the chances are that they probably like you.

  20. I mean Sandoval, Barria, Peña, Guerra, Slagers? All have shown good stuff both last year and this Spring. Having Rodriguez there is desperate. The guy has thrown now 11 total innings in 3 years. It's absurd to think they HAVE to put him in the pen. How about we let him work on being a starter in the minors for the first time...ever.

  25. I will say that living in Montana during Covid has been good. My boys have been in school all year, they are participating in sports and plays, we haven’t had a mask mandate for three weeks and are seeing little to no spike in cases. 17 active cases in my county.

If he keeps this up over the next few months I will be able to fully embrace my fickle side and start with the Andrelton who stuff. Looking forward to a full season of him and Fletch flashing the leather and filling highlight reels.

These are some of the guys that sent Apollo to the moon and back. This is the North American Rockwell guidance control team. My father is seated 2nd row, 2nd from left. When he started in guidance control he would write out the formulas using slide rule calculations then turn those over to the data entry team to cross check on a computer overnight. There was no such thing as a personnel computer. Desk calculators were few and far between since they were huge, heavy, very expensive and only did very basic math.

  37. I'm just going to say this about my comments and then leave it alone. I hope C-Rod is the second coming of Frickin' Pedro Martinez, but he still has a lot of prove. Yes, he has terrific stuff - but we all know that isn't enough. He has to be able to demonstrate he can locate and command his pitches and adjust once the hitters adjust to him. He's a work in progress. The thing I find funny is how quickly people want to anoint him the next big thing. I get it. It's what fans do. I just find it funny. When Justin Anderson made his MLB debut, some here went nuts and started think

  40. It really isn't a shitty investment. They are paid less than a livable wage in the lower minor leagues, less than minimum wage. When they get to AAA they are paid $1600-2800 a month. They are underpaid their first 6 years in the big leagues. They have 6-12 years to foster a relationship. They have 6 years in the major leagues to sign them to an extension before they leave for free agency.
