    Tim Mead - good guy

My daughter's best friend has an aunt, who, not only having cerebral palsy all her life, is going through breast cancer. That is a lot of tough breaks, not only for the woman, but the whole family. She's a big Angels fan. I am not sure how they got it set up, but the family got to visit the Angels clubhouse before Monday's game. My daughter is texting me, and it was only 90 minutes before the game. Scioscia took time to sign a ball for the woman (she really doesn't talk) - and I saw Tim Mead in the background of one of the pictures. I am sure Mead did a lot to get this done. The season may suck, but these people do nice things for people.

    My Son

Today my son leaves to Oklahoma to start his boot camp and training in the US Army. I am excited for him, but as a parent I am very nervous. Some people on here know me and what my family has been through. My wife died at the early age of 42 on Oct 9, 2010 (I can't believe it's been almost 5 years). My son was 15 at the time of her passing. He was a second year varsity baseball player as a sophomore in high school. After his Mom passed his grades slipped enough to be removed from the baseball team and got behind in credits to graduate. I moved him to a new school for his senior year and he was able to make up his credits and graduate. For the last 2 years he has struggled to find work and when he did find work he couldn't keep it. He called me about 3 months ago and said that he had talked with a recruiter and he was thinking about joining. I supported him 110% in his decision. Well today is the day he ships out to begin his commitment. I am very proud of him for making this decision. I think he needed some structure, discipline and responsibility in his life and this is where he will get it. It is also difficult as a parent to see him leave. I know he will be safe during boot camp but it is still a bit hard on the nerves. I have lost a spouse ......I can't imagine losing a child Too. Thanks to all who have served.

Tim was a tremendous help in setting up my Navy retirement on the field about seven years (has it really been that long?) ago. Nothing but praise for him.

If he's smart and gets into the right field he can get a pretty good job. He just has to stay focused and block out the distractions. Best of luck to him.

It's because any chance I can get to listen to Vin Scully call an Angels game, I have to take advantage of that. I really believe the guy is a National treasure. I always learn something when I listen to him call the game. Also F#%K the Dodgers.

For some reason this board always has to be split one side or another. Its simple, in this debate as well as a lot of the others. Trout is a beast, arguably the best player in baseball. That said, hes been average at best (very bad for his standards) ever since the tailspin started. And he shouldnt get a pass for it. That doesnt mean he isnt still a top 3 player in the game. Any team would still gladly trade their mother and virgin sister for him. Its just that hes human after all....

This season Kole Calhoun has hit homers off ... Price (2012 winner) Kluber (2014 winner) Greinke (2009 winner) maybe 2015 winner Kershaw (2011,2013,2014 winner) Still has a shot at King Felix this season!

Dipoto is the reason we needed another bat(s) at the deadline. He created the problem and had a long time to address it, and just when we needed him to do his f'n job and get this team in position for the stretch drive, he quit. Ran away from his obligations. He pussed out.He may be a nice guy, but as a lifelong fan of this team he can go f*ck himself.

It's great that he can put up a 1.200+ OPS in July but it would be really neat if he could do that in August or September with the season on the line. His playoff "performance" last year didn't help either.

An article that points out the Angels spent well over slot for Adenhart is used as proof that Moreno pinches pennies. Logic fail. The moving away from the farm system is one of my biggest beefs with the Angels and it's valid, but it's hardly about penny pinching, it's more about the shift in philosophy that followed Stoneman's departure. The Angels under Stoneman were noted for going over slot on players, particularly in the mid rounds where they offered first round money. They were known for inking draft and follow players, were very active in Latin America, and even signed several Aussie players. Then boom... Fans wanted FA home run hitters and to play the same FA games the Red Sox and Yankees were famous for playing... The fans got their wish... Many pennies were spent and less and less money made it's way to the draft. Careful what you wish for... I blame Moreno not for penny pinching, but for spending his money in the wrong places..

Kudos to you for supporting your son with this life changing decision. You must be very proud. The fact that he made this decision himself says a lot about your son's character. Good for him.

We all know this. This is why the Angels farm system is shit. They were pinching pennies hoping guys like Chevy Clarke would work out. Something has got to change

    Switching cable co.

Whatever they offer you, tell them that it isn't good enough. "Is there anything else you can do for me?" The time you have the leverage is when you are switching, or threatening to switch. And ditch the landline.

    This series: Vin or Victor?

I grew up hearing Vin Scully more than the revolving door of Angels TV announcers. The Dodgers had more televised games so his voice was more often the voice of baseball and he always got it right. So right he rarely had the company of a Color Commentator, there was no need, Scully was always prepared. He is comfort food for the ears when it comes to baseball. The duos other teams chose to use is to make up for the lacking of the play by play announcer. If you would imagine Rojas or Smith doing the entire broadcast solo it isn't a pretty picture. So they need a buffer to take some of the talk time away and it falls on guys that are paid to pose as experts when often then are just running their mouths and offering little insight. I'd rather listen to Vin over Rojas and Goober but Time Warner decided that only Dodger fans within their cable network will be the only ones that get to. Which means most Dodger fans won't get to listen to him as well. I guess as an Angels fan there is that to hold over them.

So lets get this straight..... 2015 with RISP Trout .342 / 1.193ops 2015 with RISP Pujols .228 / .731ops And we are complaining about Trout? WTF? Without Trout this team would be complete shit!

When they went 17-3 he was shouldering the load...Pujols was slumping...so was Calhoun. The fact is its a team game and you need people to pick each other up. The problem is: Weaver is done and has an ERA near 5 Wilson is on the DL Shoemaker is down and his "Strained Forearm" could be a ominous sign Heaney is reaching his inning limit Santiago has gone full retard the 2nd half of the season Tropeano is talented but is clearly not ready Appart from Street, there are no go-to options in the BP we can depend on nightly...Gott is still young, Smith caught Speier-Downs disease, Salas is f'n useless other than the fact he doesn't walk people, Bedrosian isn't ready, Rasmus can pitch (when healthy), Ramirez and Alvarez are both "meh" lefty options Calhoun is a poor lead-off hitter but the best option even with a .320 OBP Pujols is done-ski but he drag himself out there like an handicapped animal on rollers hoping to lean into a mistake while hoping not to kill another rally Our Clean-up hitter is David F'n Murphy who platoons with the cadaver formally known as Vicorino who's main accomplishment lately has been testing the integrity of the outfield wall Aybar is Aybar which isn't a difference maker Ianetta is shit on both sides of the ball...Ramirez is a solid back-up who is starting Featherton is a AAA hitter forced to play everyday due to Johnny G's unfortunate situation and yet they still in the WC hunt...within reach with all this crap going down. This can turn around just as easily as it can turn down I agree that Trout needs to swing at the first pitch...and needs to K less...I'm sure he's heard it but maybe he's doing the best he can and there is nothing more he can do except continue to grind until he gets himself out of it. Odds say he will at some point...hopefully soon

    Death by a thousand cuts.

The Angels are not in a great position right now due to guys they counted on at least matching their career numbers not performing on offense. Fact is, despite having depth at SP, they really don't have a lot of players to deal unless they plan on disrupting their "Retooling" process. Heaney, Tropeano, Newcomb, Skaggs - these guys, along with GRich, are your future rotation pieces with Weaver and Wilson gone when their contracts end and Santiago/Shoemaker possibly traded or in the BP. I think at this point, you only trade cost-controlled SP for cost-controlled offensive pieces and not expensive vets - value for value. WIth the pitching this team has already, I think it will continue tread water, maybe ripoff a streak or two, but can't see it going beyond 85-86 wins with this currnet offense as too much of it depends on two guys.

Just the way that my Spanish teacher taught me. Which I am sure that the driver would understand perfectly. I didn't realize that it was recyclable. Now I know why the trash guys wear gloves. Yeah, that's what I thought it said. And people believe that Middle Easterners are conservative. If they are dead, it stands to reason that they are also slow. Not high on my list of entrees. I'll get right on it. Is this what they call an attractive nuisance? I understand the object lesson, but is a park bench really the best place to illustrate it? I just hope that Sue is hot. Truth in advertising. Good reason.
