First of all, it is useful for me to point out that I'm a Texas Ranger fan and have been since they moved to Texas in 1971.

But, more importantly, I'm not a troll. For the most part, I enjoy reading Angelswin because there are some genuinely funny comments on here. If I had wanted to be a troll and stir up trouble, I would have done so long before now.

However, I have to make a "hypocrite'' call after reading a lot of recent postings concerning Matt Garza.

I may be wrong, but it seems as if the majority of posters would love to get Matt Garza for the Angels' rotation.

This, however, is in direct conflict with the "Garza fits right in with the Rangers'' thread which appeared on Aug. 3. The vitriol aimed at him then was remarkable.

In other words, you couldn't stand him then, but you love him now? What's changed? Oh, maybe it's because he was on the Rangers?

Same thing applies to Josh Hamilton. Most posters here couldn't stand him when he was with the Rangers, but when the Angels signed him, you were ecstatic the Angels' front office stabbed the Rangers in the eye.

And as far as Garza is concerned, I believe he showed his true value last summer with Texas. He's not a No. 3 starter and he may not even be a No. 4.

More than likely, I won't post here again, but I felt the need to point out the obivious hypocrisy in some of the threads on this site.

Nobody here loves Garza, but he is the best FA option out there that will not cost us a draft pick.

He's the perfect #3 on a good team.

Dude, really?? It's called supporting your team. Personally I don't care who plays for our team as long as they play hard to win. I will admit I was one who thought CJ was a real "D-bag" before he came here. Do I cheer for him now, sure. I personally hope we do not sign Garza. It's not just the money, but I think there are injury concerns with him. I don't think he is the same pitcher from a couple of years ago and not worth the risk.

This is normally where I respond by arguing the opposite of everything you said about Garza but since we apparently all want Garza, I'm just going to nod in approval.

As I said in my earlier post, I genuinely enjoy reading AW threads. By in large they are clever with humorous comments.

What I don't care for -- and I'm sure it's simply ignorance -- is how some here feel Texans are nothing but cousin-humpers who have one tooth in their head and wouldn't know a fastball from an eyeball.

I appreciate opportunity to express my opinion, but to make sure I'm not accused of being a troll, I won't be a regular.

As a longtime Laker fan, I clearly remember "hating" Larry Bird.  A little introspection made me realize that I didn't "hate" Bird, I "feared" Bird because he could be responsible for the Celtics triumphing over my beloved Lakers.  If there had been an opportunity for him to become a Laker and team with Magic and Kareem, I'm sure that initially I would have fought the idea.  Same ideal actually took place with the signing of Karl Malone and Gary Payton.  Didn't like those guys for years as they were responsible for beating my Lakers numerous times, but then they became part of the Lakers team and I learned to embrace them.  Initially it was weird getting past the "hate" that I had for them, but once they strapped on the purple and gold I wholeheartedly began to support them.  It's the nature of passion, competition and supporting one's team.  This is the philosophy at the heart of hating a player one day (when he is your nemesis you point out all of the flaws) and, in this instance, tolerating his acquisition the next.

I will say, in regards to Matt Garza, that if there were a larger list of starting pitchers available without draft pick compensation tied to them, we wouldn't be discussing Matt Garza as an Angel.  He is arguably the best pitcher available in an extremely shallow pool when considering the variables.  I would rather we look elsewhere and sign someone like Capuano OR scour the trade market and trade Aybar or Kendrick in order to add a #3 type starter.

why would we assume that you'd have a tooth?

This... all day.  Perfect summarization, well said.

However i will say as a fan of the showtime Lakers i never hated Bird, i hated playing him.

I think that is ultimately what my introspection showed me.  It wasn't hate, it was fear.

Fans are irrational. In other news, the Sun rose from the East and Mike Napoli is celebrating a World Series victory, drunk and shirtless.

Clarified.

Hey HP, keep in mind most of the Ranger fans that post here give you guys a bad name. So if we give you shit, its more about those fools, than you. We had one Ranger fan, Ranger Guy, that was actually awesome. He hasn't been with us on the new site. Stick around, don't be an idiot and you will be respected. By the way, we have better weather than you.

I understand how some Ranger fans, as well as fans of other teams, get carried away. In the rare times I return I will not be an idiot. But when I see something I consider blatant, as I tried to point out in the original post, I might make a point of saying something.

Otherwise, I honestly enjoy the threads here. They are very entertaining.

HP, I can tell you that if you only come on here to point out blatant stuff then you are going to be called a troll. Just participate as often as you are comfortable with.

Majority of posters would love Garza? What? You must not have been reading this forum much

Exactly, and while Garza may have been a true #3 before 2012, the injuries have reduced him to likely a decent/solid #4.

I'd rather have Santiago/Richards/Skaggs then Garza/Santiago/Richards long term.

Blatant was the way Rangers fans turned on Josh Hamilton after believing Jon Daniels lie that he never got a chance to negotiate a deal. He had exclusive rights to work out a deal, then another month without talking to Hamilton before he signed with the Angels.

But there were all those non hypocrites in the stands booing Hamilton in his return to Arlington even after he spent time signing Ranger fans autographs before the game.

Please, save the sanctimonious self serving bullshit for your buddies at the Cowboys bar when you watch the Superbowl.
