Conger has a 'thumb cramp'

Recommended Posts

Conger has to hope that Dipoto will trade him soon so he can get a shot at making an MLB career. It's clear he has no future under Mike Scioscia. I'm beginning to feel for the kid. Local kid, all that time in the minors, and he can't even get a shot because our manager doesn't like Catchers who can hit. What a shame. My money is on him going to NYY and hitting 20 HR's there a couple years.

Ya, I kind of feel like if they're going to bring in someone else, they might as well ship Conger off elsewhere and get whatever value he has left out of him(not that I think that's much anymore).

But Alden Gonzalez was talking about them still believing in Conger, so adding another catcher would likely just result in another season in AAA for him. That just seems like a recipe for going through this all over again next ST, except Conger will be out of options and another year older; and the odds of him suddenly becoming a different player than what he's always been seem awfully slim.

Don't know who watched the game, but it wasn't a thing that happened between innings. The pitcher was ready to make a pitch and Conger stopped play and had the trainers come check him out and had to be taken out of the game. Initially it looked like something worse, but hopefully he recovers soon.
