2. Mark Mulder, LHP, free agent — Mulder is looking for a creative contract as he makes his comeback attempt. He may have to agree to a minor league deal first, with incentives if he makes the major league club. Mulder has worked out for the Giants, Padres, Diamondbacks, Angels, and Phillies over two sessions. In the second session, Mulder, who hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2008, improved his velocity from 88 to 92 miles per hour. It’s a long road back, but the fact that Mulder’s shoulder is showing no signs of discomfort could mean he’d be a good back-end option for someone. The Red Sox have inquired, but probably won’t pursue him.

I'm down with this.  He hasn't been good in almost a decade but what the hell?

Who was the bullpen guy we signed last year that was trying to come back?  Had some good innings in ST and then didn't do anything in SLC.  Chad Cordero?  Yeah, Mark Mulder will probably be Chad Cordero but he's worth a look.

I can't think of 1 thing that is similar between Ryan Madson and Mark Mulder.

They each have last names that are six letters long and begin with "M."

Coincidentally, your favorite word shares such characteristics: MURDER.

They both have the same amount of letters in both their first and last names.

They both have first and last names that start with consonants.

It wouldn't hurt to sign him to a minor league deal. However, the odds of him making the ML team is very slim. He's 36, and he hasn't pitched in the ML since 2008. He was terrible in his very limited innings in 2007 and 2008. In 2006, he put up 2013 Blanton type numbers. His last solid ML season was almost ten years ago (2005).

Yeah our bullpen really needs another injury laden reliever. I guess he'll fit in if he has command issues and can walk every batter he faces in the 8th inning.
