Angels sign Ben Fritz to MiLB deal.

Fritz, who turns 32 next month, is making a comeback. The Angels put
him thorugh a workout in January and were stunned to see him hit 94
m.p.h. on the radar gun. It's rare for any pitcher, even a major leaguer
in his prime, to be able to throw that hard in January.

Last week the Angels signed Fritz to a minor-league deal, and they'll
give him a shot to pitch in some big league exhibition games, including
this weekend, according to pitching coach Mike Butcher.

Agree with this 100%.  We need to have a few guys like this in the minors, and if they make the club so much the better.

Interesting. We always have more room for someone who throws strikes. 

 

EDIT: Interesting point. He certainly doesn't strike many people out with that 94 MPH fastball of his.

supposedly he had a low 90's sinker when he was drafted yet  he had an arm injury in 2004 and wasn't the same.  I like these kinds of moves as well as long as it doesn't take innings or opportunities away  from other guys.
