According to MLB Trade Rumors, he wanted Ellsbury money. So he turns down a contract for the same length that would have paid him less than $2 million/year less than Ellsbury. Guess he (and Boras) are serious.

Too bad for Choo, because if the Astros have offered him something, I seriously doubt it's for anywhere close to 7/$140.

I don't buy it at all. Boras would have gotten Choo to accept that immediately.

i agree, that's hard to believe. that seems like a maximum money offer.

$20 million doesn't go as far as it used to, I guess.

Poor guy.

That's absurd. Choo is over a year older and not as good as Ellsbury. He's probably a better hitter overall but Ellsbury is also a great center fielder while Choo is a poor corner outfielder. Ellsbury has a lot more value and Boras needs to let Choo know that. He won't get more than 7/$140MM.

what kind of crazy pills is he taking when he turns down that kind of offer? holy mackeral! is he somehow convinced someone else is going to offer him more?

i don't know what he ever did to warrant that kind of offer in the first place. it's a world gone mad.
