2016: 27.5 M (12.5 M buyout)

Phillies get: Josh Hamilton

2014: 15 M

2015: 23 M

2016: 30 M

2017: 30 M

And Garret Richards

Angels would get their top of the line starter and Phillies would get an outfield powerboat for right field and a cheap pitcher who's under club control for a while.

The Angels could then spend their remaining 20 million a year budget on signing Choo to finish the offseason signings. Offer 6/120 to Choo.

I'd much rather have Hamilton over Lee right now. If we were to do this trade then the Bourjos trade wouldn't look very smart.

That trade could never happen. I don't think the Phillies are going to kick in an extension at major bucks that Hamilton would demand to waive his full no-trade clause. Lee has 20 of 29 teams blocked of which I'm sure the Angels are one since players with mega-contracts always block all of the big spending teams.

Phillies are trying to shed salary.   Because of that, they will probably want high end prospects in return.

There is no reason for the Angels to be letting go of a club controlled starter like Richards. It just perpetuates the cycle of being at the cap with no long term plan.
