According to Sanspo.com, Rakuten Golden Eagles owner Hiroshi Mikitani will allow Masahiro Tanaka to be posted this offseason.

Kinda moot really, the new process just means everyone ponies up 20 mil and he becomes a free agent limited to negotiating with those who paid.... after that its whoever ponies up the contract cash

Once Tanaka is signed the dominos for pitching will fall.  That's what's holding up Garza.

Garza is in line for a 5/75 type of deal, I am sure it will take more than that for Tanaka.

Greinke signed a 6/159 deal with the Dodgers.  I personally think it would be stupid to offer a guy who have never pitched in the majors something like that, but with the number of big money teams that want him, that is possible.

I absolutely want Tanaka but I think he's a Yankee. They desperately need a SP and they'll throw tons of money at him. 

 

My guess is the Angels are one of the 3 finalists but come up short by about 20 million dollars.
