Yankees already trying to court Trout

Mike is from the East coast. Most people that grow up there are attached in some way to the area. I'm from Philly and still think about it often. There's a special mentality and culture there that's very hard to shake.

It's going to take a lot of money and a strong commitment from the Angels to keep him here, I feel. They probably have the money, but so far, the commitment is not there. They'd better not give him some lousy $50K raise again. They need to start the process very soon that will keep him an Angel for the next 10 years.

Have you ever attended a Yankee or Red Sox game at the Big A? An absurd number of East Coasters shake that love and move to SoCal.

I'm just saying, if the Yankees or Phillies come calling and we drop the ball, Trout will have his happy memories of growing up back East to perhaps nudge him in that direction.

He'll make so much money that he'll be able to live anywhere he wants. Heck, he'll be able to buy several homes anywhere he wants. I don't think living in California will be the predominant factor in where he chooses to play.

Yep, and if Jeff Fletcher is right and the Angels will start talking extension as soon as the season starts then we have plenty of time to work out an extension. If he's offered $175-200 million in April he won't turn it down. If anything he would just ask for either less years or an opt out clause. Players and agents want security and that kind of money provides that.

I honestly think it MLB finds it as tampering then the Yankees should have a fine or forfeit a draft pick. And since this tampering affected one team directly, the Angels, the Angels should receive that fine or that draft pick. If they don't consider it tampering then so be it.
