FORT WORTH, Texas - A probation sentence for a 16-year-old who killed four people in a drunk driving crash has sparked outrage among the victim's family and survivors of the crash.

A psychologist called by the defense said the 16-year-old was a victim of "affluenza," which is "the product of wealthy, privileged parents who never set limits for the boy."  The psychologist said that the teen's family felt that wealth bought privilege and that two years of treatment and no contact with his parents would help Couch turn his life around.

You can't make this stuff up. Unbelievable.

Seriously though, our justice system is seriously skewed toward those who have money to pay for a great defense.

Same judge sent a 14 yr old kid to 10yrs of juvi for punching and killing a man. This kid wasn't rich or white.

Nothing will repay the loss of the loved ones but the kids father should have been required to pay some fines for wrongful death or donate money towards a charity for family's who have lost loved ones from drunk driving.

Using prison as a form of punishment never really made sense to me. It's a good way to separate psychopaths from society, but how would it improve this kid's life? He has to live with the fact that he killed several people. That's punishment enough.
