Angels acquire Brian Moran

Turnbow was supposed to help us too. Not many Rule V guys contribute in a way that they become valuable in the bullpen. Having to carry this guy all season most likely means Santiago will be in the bullpen to eat innings since one bullpen spot will be taken up by this guy.

But is this still the case since didn't we technically trade for him?

Well, we traded money we could have used in signing international talent that could flop and is probably 5-6 years away for a guy that could help our bullpen now.

It was a good trade IMO. This team needs bullpen help now and can only afford to sign a #3 type arm and DH. No money left for a bullpen guy.

Not concerned about the money Chuck. It's the roster spot in a bullpen that already has question marks in Burnett and Jepsen.

Absent a lights out spring or lots of ineffectiveness or injuries amond other bullpen arms, I don't see where Jepsen will fit in.....Frieri, Burnett (assuming he's healthy), DeLaRosa, JSmith are pretty much locks...Kohn, Rasmus and now Moran are all in the mix...assuming we sign another starter, Santiago could be in the pen...

Well, barring a trade of Moran in ST, he will be in the bullpen and will not be used by MS in close games. Therefore, Santiago will have to be in the pen to offset the fact that Moran will be taking up a spot.

The other option to this is carry one less bat on the bench which MS seemed to do a majority of last season.
