Ervin is, at best, a #3 starter. The going rate for #3s is about $12-16MM a year. Given his erratic record (although he has had three pretty good years out of the last four, and four out of the last six), I think he'll end up getting in the 4-5 year, $14-15MM range, so 4/$56M - 5/$75M.

$22M+ over five years for a pitcher who is good every other year is a lot of coin - especially considering that the upcoming season will be one of his off-years if everything goes according to schedule.
