I still can't believe Morales didn't take the $14.1 million. Now, Seattle doesn't need him and who's going to give up a pick for him? Reminds me of the time Jody Reed turned down a three year $7.8 million dollar deal from the Dodgers and ended up signing with the Brewers for $350,000.

Oddly.  in Seattles case.

 

They sign Cano, and lose Morales.  They have a protected first rounder.  They would lose their second rounder.  But they would get a supplemental pick which is before the second round.

Interesting write up on him.  Does not rule out the Halos.  But they bring up the Astros and that does make sense if his pricetag comes down like Lohse last season.

Yep. I could see him possibly getting 3/32 at the very most. I'd say 2/20 is around what he'll get.

If the price is right regardless of losing the 1st round pick, they should bring Morales in.  The present value overwhelms the future value, here.  They need to get back to the post season, and they have the chance to back there with more run-productive continuity to the lineup.  Like Benjie Molina, Morales delivers in the rally.  Trumbo killed them.  That 2002 feeling could be brewing here with bringing him in.

He can be signed after the June draft. Boras should have told him to accept. I'm not opposed to signing him in June. Reminds me a little of Chuck Finley's case. He didn't accept arb, and ended out of baseball.

I don't want to lose the pick, but I would definitely consider it if the price were right for Morales. If he could be signed for something similar to what Loney got (say, 3/24), I'd be all for it.

i would not give up a first round pick for morales, at any dollar value. if he was sitting around after the draft, then fine, but he won't be.
