Zach Borenstein now moves up in org priority to keep.

With Trumbo and Bourjos traded, Borenstein is now primed for a run at a starting LF spot a year from now during ST 2015.

He now needs to become an untouchable, given his short and powerful swing (1.000 OPS and Cal League MVP) and solid plate discipline.

IMHO, Brandon Wood, he ain't.    Good future most definately

I like this kid but he was old for the level. Let's see how he does in AA/AAA. He's and Calhoun are similar, I think.

Hamilton is going to be in LF for the next 4 seasons. But we have an opening at DH. So Borenstein and Calhoun can share the OF/DH/1B spots with Hamilton, Pujols, Trout and Cron.

That's a terrible way to develop a young player... Just ****ing terrible...

A lot will change a year from now though. Cron will most likely be DFA'd or be a career AAAA guy. Calhoun might struggle.

Cron is not getting DFA'd. That wouldn't happen until literally he is out of minor league options and since he was drafted in 2011, you're looking like 2018-19 at the earliest. If he's not successful.

Calhoun is not going to struggle. At worst he's an .780 OPS guy, at best .920.

Borenstein isn't likely to be a regular until 2016. At the earliest, so they've got nothing but time.

I think everyone knows how I feel about this guy's brother, so I'll just stick with Borenstein himself.

Built like a football player minus the athleticism.  Incredible strength, willingness to learn and grit make him a player worth holding onto.  Like most prospects, he's far from a sure-thing.  Didn't really hit in A Ball, numbers on the road in hitter friendly parks in Cal League super-inflated his power numbers, was old for the league, isn't the fastest or best defender in the OF, couldn't hack it at 3B, looked completely lost/overwhelmed against elite prospects in the AFL.

Essentially his value is tied to his bat, which in his case isn't such a bad thing because he has considerable lefty pop. I envision him being something similar to what the Angels are currently looking for in Raul Ibanez.  A platoon bat that serves a purpose for power late in the ball game.  I don't think he's the next Kole Calhoun.

It's like you put a salmon in your pants and went walking through yellowstone.

I believe at one time (during the 1920s), the entire city council and mayor of Anaheim were members of the KKK.

didnt winston churchill say if its the 20's and you're not in the klan you have no heart, if its the 40's and you're not conservative you have no brain? Or something like that?

The city council was just going through their rebelious college years. Theyre probably a lot more tolerant now
