Grilled Cheese sandwich

Recommended Posts

I like havarti or Swiss on sourdough with slice of American for texture. A little parm in the butter is really good too. Katie's sandwich does sound the best tho. We haven't been to the yodeler that I recall. We usually eat at the stove, Grumpys, whiskey creek, nick and eddies or the cellar. Not sure if there is still a Shatz location in Mammoth but they make great sandwiches too.

There was a Schatz as of August 2012, my former roommate got married in Mammoth and bought us bridesmaids stuff from there for breakfast.

Have you been to Burgers Restaurant? Delicious burgers (duh) there.

Yes! We have been to Bergers! They are pretty good. Very nice people too. My wife tried a hot tea during one visit and really liked it. After we got home she forgot the name of it and couldn't remember when she searched the stores. She actually called the resturant and the hostess grabbed one of the tea selection boxes and read off all the names of the tea until susan recognized the name of it. She was able to order it online after that. That is great customer service and how you stand out when competing for business in a resort town. Well any town actually.

We go to Mammoth in the summer months because of the fishing. If you like sushi try Sand Dollar sushi in the village. Is much better than shogun across from Von's. If you wanna drive to a lake and catch fish try lake Mamie. See you at the lake and I hope you catch the second biggest fish of the summer!

Schat's San Francisco Sourdough might be the best bread ever created on planet earth. I want to drive to Bishop right now just thinking about it.

On a side note, the sushi joint in Bishop is also very good. They have fresh fish trucked in daily. I know, weird.

Self proclaimed best grilled cheese maker here. Keeping it simple IMO is key.

However during summer in my teens I would do a double-decker when I was super hungry and I'd grill both sides of the middle piece.

Now I enjoy using the marble-rye bread bread from Sprouts, with whatever cheese (Pepper Jack, Monterey Jack, Provolone, sometimes Velveeta) I have in the fridge.

I was there in the summer for a wedding, but the only other time was last March for a trip with my boyfriend's company. We will be taking the free trip every March as long as he works there.

Didn't want to start a different thread for quesadilla's so I'll just tack on here.  What type of cheese do you use?  I use a shredded, four-cheese mix from Costco for the kids.  For my wife and I, the only choice is the Cotijo (or Queso Fresco) type cheese.  It's usually in a wheel wrapped in sealed plastic.  It's the bomb if you've never had it.
