Dude was great for years. Shame how how career ended but you can say that about a lot of these guys. Great career

Sad news.  He was one of my favorite pitchers to watch.

I hope he's one of those guys who can take a year off and acutally have a healthy arm. It was painful to watch last year.

He was the best pitcher in baseball just a few years ago. Sad that he had to go out like this.

Definitely a Hall of Famer. Sad to see this happen, but the writing was on the wall.

Why is everyone saying this is sad?

Pitched 16 years and played out a monster contract. Postseason no-no, and HOF in a few years.

Cause he was horrible at the end and I'm guessing everyone here would like for him to have better ending than an 8 era.

 

That and he deserved a ring.

 

But no...he had a great career and easily gets into the hall of fame

I think it is awesome that he accepted reality and didn't go the Colon-Clements route.

Halladay probably wanted to sign a one day contract with the Phillies, but Amaro would only offer three years.

One of my favorites. Loved watching him as a Blue Jay taking on the Yankees all by himself. HOF awaits.

Sad that his career ended like this.  One of the great pitchers of this era.
