If Brett Anderson gets traded to the Blue Jays

The Blue Jays were hot after Anderson a few weeks ago, if he gets swapped to the Blue Jays do you think the Jays could trade us JA Happ and Sergio Santos for Howie Kendrick? Which side would have to throw in prospects?

Why would we want Happ at all, much less trade a quality player for him? He's been awful outside of one year in Philly way back in 09.

If that's all we could get for Howie, then I definitely wouldn't trade him. 

 

We are trying to get a starting pitcher of equal value and go with a lesser option at 2b for a pitching upgrade.  The other teams we would be dealing with would likely be putting themselves into the position we are in now if they traded for howie.  There are maybe a couple of teams with a marginal surplus of pitching that need a better 2bman and are in a position to win. 

 

It's clear that those other teams would rather keep their pitching or give unequal lesser value instead. 

 

A fringe #4/5 for Howie would make me very unhappy.

He turned his season around in the minors last year posting a 3.14 ERA, .203 BAA and an excellent 35/6 K/BB rate after he came back from injury. Still throws hard (92-96 MPH) with a solid breaking ball and changeup. I'd definitely scoop him up.

Think it'd make sense for both. Can then go for an average innings eater or Garza and sign another minor league deal vet as insurance for when Anderson goes down.

Anderson is good when healthy(well, until this past year at least), he's just never healthy.

I'm not sure Anderson is the answer for a team with pitching depth problems.

Again, if it costs Kendrick to get Anderson, then no thanks. 

 

He might end up solid at some point, but he averaged about 60ip as a starter for the last 4 seasons.  We can't rely on that unless there are two additional guys that can give us average to slightly below average quality innings in the mix. 

 

You may as well sign Johan or Halladay instead.

If Toronto wants Anderson, it's because they don't like the stiffs that are at the back end of their rotation. So, why would we want them?

I'd like Aaron Sanchez and Buerhle for Kendrick and Blanton but its not gonna happen.

I'd even take Ricky Romero off their hands if the Angels got Buerhe.
