He is a FA, and should be a cheap one year sign.

Johan Santana (shoulder) is currently throwing from a distance of 90 feet.

 

Santana underwent a second surgery to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule in April, but his agent, Chris Leible, says that his shoulder feels "way better." Still, teams might want to see him throw before signing him to a contract, so there's no clear timetable for a deal. A reunion with the Twins has been mentioned as a possibility. Nov 27 - 10:55 AM

Santana or Halladay would be an excellent low risk high reward signing.

These types of guys are fine if you aren't counting on them to be full time starters.

If we had him as our #6 guy, that's fine. I don't think we are in a situation where we can bank on someone like him turning it around and giving us a lot of innings.
