On the hypothetical that Iannetta is moved in trade this off-season I wouldn't mind if the Angels took a flier on Lavarnway: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/red-sox-notes-granderson-ellsbury-salty-lavarnway.html

 

He would be a good complimentary bat behind Conger against LHP. His defense is "meh" but his Minor League numbers against LHP are massive. 2011-2013 vs. LHP: .339/.462/.587/1.049, averaging one HR per 21 PA's (292 PA's vs. LHP in that time frame).

 

The Red Sox seem more enamored with their other top catching prospects Christian Vazquez and Blake Swihart and still have David Ross as a backup to the newly acquired Pierzynski for this season.

 

Just a thought as Conger and Lavarnway could make our catching position a source of real offensive strength for the next 2+ seasons if R.L. could be acquired in a reasonable trade.
