Pretty much why I felt the best option was to sign value guys and possibly trade for guys that could help down the road.

 

Sure am glad we pissed away one of our few tradeable players in Grichuk.

If I am not mistaken, the Winter Meetings haven't even started. There is a lot o off-season to be played out. I still have hope.

Exactly why the Angels should just be sellers and sell off all parts and restock. It's such a huge sellers market build toward the future.

The more teams that fill holes before the winter meetings the less teams are willing to trade. We become one of just a few teams who are incredibly desperate. The problem with that scenario is that we don't have the players needed to make a move of desperation. We'd be left out. Now is the time to make some moves.

Just realized that with this move and how deep the A's bullpen is, wouldn't surprise me to see Beane flip Johnson at the trade deadline to some desperate team needing a closer and is dumb enough to pay for saves. Could just plug Gregerson in at closer and not miss a beat

I don't get why some people think every team needs to contact the Angels before consummating a deal or that deals going through means the Angels aren't working the phones.

Padres really needed a guy who could hit RH pitching and Smith has been pretty good against them in his career.

But yeah I imagine we wouldn't have needed to give up very much to get Gregerson.
