Didn't the Mariners alter the dimensions of Safeco Field to make it more hitter friendly last year?   Prior to that -- it was a very difficult park to hit HRs in as is evident by a hitters park index of 87 in 2012 and then 97 in 2013.

 

Unfortunately for the Mariners -- the opposition hit better there as well..   The pitchers index went from 88 to 98.

 

You are correct in that they moved in the fences in LF and the LF/CF power alley. RF was left alone.

 

I'm aware the opposition hit better there .... but the opposition also faced Aaron Harang, Joe Saunders and Jeremy Bonderman for stretches during the season.
