#Angels signee Mike Monster was a 25th round pick of #Reds out of high school in 2009 but the RHP did not sign.

I'd guess for his age, and experience, he's likely going to have to advance fairly quickly to stay a legit prospect.

He hasn't played organized ball in 2 years, so it will be unlikely he gets to the Show in 2014. However, it also depends on if they see him as a starter or reliever. I suppose he could finish the year best-case scenario in High A. That's probably a stretch. Still in 2015, he could pitch A-AA, and maybe get to the majors in the pen as a September Call-Up.

Mike Morin, is a similar arm, no? He's a year younger than Monster, but pitched collegiately at UNC. He was drafted in 2012, spent 2012 in Rookie Ball, after being signed after the draft (midseason).  2013 was spent in A+/AA skipping Low A and he's a longshot candidate for the pen for 2014.

I'd say Monster as a reliever will spend time in Extended Spring Training then Orem, as the article suggests. Or he could head to Burlington for Low Class A. Regardless, they'll probably send him to High A the following year, as they did with Morin, and then if he does well, AA in August and the Arizona Fall League. Then he'll be a long shot to make the roster in 2016 out of the pen.

However, with the 97 mph fastball, he could end up in High A this year, and be in Anaheim in 2015.
