How bad is he? He hit .179 last year but still hit 22 bombs. Is it bad luck, or does the guy just suck now? Hopefully someone that can read advanced stats can fill me in. Also how is he defensively?

The thought crossed my mind. If Atlanta picked up the majority of his contract plus a young stud pitcher might be interesting. But looking at his stats he is pretty bad.

All you need to know is that the Braves left Uggla off their playoff roster. When the games meant the most, they didn't want him anywhere near the bat rack.

Uggla is basically Adam Dunn lite at second and he is one of the worst defensive players in all of baseball at any position. He would make Grant Green look pretty decent with the glove.

Your ideas seem completely realistic compared to other proposals here.  Just stick around and you'll figure that out

To actually answer your question, partially, Uggla's a defensive black hole and his contact rate has slipped significantly over the last two years. He really is becoming an Adam Dunn-lite, where he either a) strikes out, b ) walks, or c) hits a home run. Nothing in between.

I hear you guys on Uggla. I know he been slipping ever since he went to the Braves. Just wanted to know if it was worth while to look at getting DU and young good cost controlled pitcher like Minor(if Atl. Would entertain that I don't know) plus pick up the majority of his contract 8 mil plus a year. That was my thinking. Looking at their prospects none seem to be major league ready in 2014 except maybe a guy named J.R. graham. He projects to be a #3 eventually. Only 5'10 though.
