If the Dodgers don't sign Kershaw this offseason

an AAV of 19.5 million dollars for one of the best hitters in the game until the age of 36 isn't a bad contract

The ticket was talking about how bigger hitters like fielder have a peak year of 23 years old (fielder hit 50 bombs) and go down hill after the age of 31 which means it will be a bad contract. On the other hand Prince has gone against the law of avg.'s for someone his size his whole career so maybe it works out.

He sure wasn't one of the best hitters in the game last year, and with his "body type" (obese), he's going to age poorly. You know if the Angels signed or traded for him (if they didn't have Albert), you would be singing another tune.

First of all, Prince Fielder isn't obese. He was a fat kid and was pretty wide in his early Brewer years but he's slimmed down and packed on quite a bit of muscle. He's by no means thin, but by most accounts his conditioning is good and he's ****ing jacked

Second of all, I wouldn't criticize the Angels if they made the same move.

Kershaw is the best pitcher in MLB.  With that said, he will be insanely over paid.  Either by the Dodgers or if he hits the FA market.  For every King Felix there are 10 Lincecums.  No way you give a guy with 1300+ IP a 8 year 300 million contract.

Is this a joke?

nope not really. he was very unimpressive last season and he was in a hitting friendly park and very hitting friendly lineup.

now that he is with Texas, he will be asked to do more because your lineup is not.nearly as good as detroits. He isn't getting any younger or slimmer and his power has been in a steady decline. he's already terrible defensively and if he doesn't hit well he will be a below average player.
