No way.  They already said Frieri is going to close, and they just signed Joe Smith.  There's no room for Nathan, really--monetarily-speaking or in terms of his role in the 'pen.

Ya, I mean I wouldn't be stunned if they signed another reliever if there's a shorter term/cheaper end deal out there to be had and it doesn't self-destruct their budget(and I'm iffy enough about the Kohn/Jepsen/Salas/etc. cast of characters that I would be cool with that), but I have a hard time envisioning them wading into the nutso world of the "proven closer" market.

 

(Not that it would be the strangest thing this team has done, but...)

Good. I didn't understand what people here saw in him. He is a decent closer but he has barely pitched the last 2 years. I'd rather have Balfour, personally.

I think it's pretty clear they aren't going to be able to get what they want in trades for a starter and the FA starter market sucks so might as well make the games 6 innings.

Would have liked the guy, but Jerry's been pretty clear that ErNasty is the closer.  Hopefully the Angels can sign Howell or someone like him to end the bullpen search.

I'm actually down with that. Sign Nathan, Beard, Howell and trade for 1 SP and go with a rotation of Weaver, Wilson, Richards, Williams and that traded SP.

Signing Brian Wilson as your closer makes about as much sense as signing a guy like Madsen to be your closer.........oh wait!!!

 

I don't see Wilson closing next year.........set up, perhaps.

I just want a lock down bullpen! I don't care what it costs! I don't care if there are 40 guys competing for 6 spots! I don't care if everyone of them are from Single A ball! I don't give a $hit! When we hand the Bullpen a 3-2, 4-3,1-0 ball game I want it to be over! Or, if we hand them a tie game or down by a run or two I want them to stick that little white ball up someones @$$! And not give up anymore runs! I want just another HALO Victory!

I know it's a bit unconventional by current metrics, but I'd be fine with that.  We'd lead the league in come back wins and the season would be a lot of fun.
