Kole Calhoun

He's not the prototypical leadoff hitter, but he's the best we got, besides Calhoun, who I think would serve best hitting 2nd in front of Trout.

Despite Aybar's lack of walks from the leadoff spot, he does hit for a high BA and can leadoff an inning with a bunt base hit as well.

There isn't many teams in baseball who have the ideal leadoff hitter.

What's the big deal about bunt base hits?

The way Trout is filling out, and showing more power. He will be a 3/4 hitter. Heck, he had the 4th highest slugging in the league last year. Hitting him first or second would be a waste. He's quickly becoming this generations Bonds, except for the Roids and the douche factor.

and the other thing...

Nobody was jerking off, but it sure looked like a great lineup. Not just by us fans, but the entire sports writing community.

That said, I believed Hanson and Blanton would at least be somewhere close to a 4:00-4:50 ERA and provide us with some quality innings, while Vargas was a little better than what he was.

What we didn't expect was Weaver to get hurt, Hanson and Blanton to suck incredibly bad and for Vargas to miss significant time with the blood clot, right after he was in a groove, knocking out tons of QS's.

Now, you can stop being an a-hole. Management knows that pitching is the primary void to fill this offseason and there's plenty of time to upgrade the staff before ST.

Injuries are normal. They came as no surprise.

^yes, injuries are normal. But when they happen to key players, you can't brush it off as 'it happens to everyone'.

In the same way aquiring key players should help a team, losing them will hurt one

Not going to get into this argument again, but every single year key players will get injured.

I'm not trying to push you poozy, and I'm sure you have discussed it ad nauseam with others. So I'm not directing this at you but more at the line of thinking.

Take the dodgers this year. Most casual fans and the nedia want to say puig energized them. But the realitt was them getting a healthy hanley and grienke back.

If you look at us in 2002, and again in 2003, it jeckyl and hyde. But people forget we lost erstad, glaus and fullmer for about half of that season.

Teams with depth will overcome injuries, true. But not many teams have the kind of depth to overcome them to star players.
