You go into a season with 4 guys, two end up working out. It's my bullpen rule of twos. Most teams also stock those back end bullpen spots with guys who finish with lower era's than 8, 12, or 15, or whatever the three worst relievers we had last year put up.

I really like this signing.   

 

Might be a year longer than you'd care to go for a reliever, but this is a definite boost to the Halos pen.  

 

Should be a great 8th inning option.

Woohoooooo! I've been on the Joe Smith bandwagon all off-season, really makes our bullpen look pretty solid. Frieri, Smith, De La Rosa, and Burnett could be a deadly quartet

Now let's figure out who the most expendable guy on the roster is. Then we can figure out which guy will lose his roster spot instead.

I think he would be a good 7th or 8th inning guy provided he starts the inning. 

 

He sucks under pressure and with runners in scoring position.  Blows almost every save opportunity.   That said, the guy is virtually untouchable with the bases empty or a runner at 1B.

Seems like are really good pick-up, but am i the only one that think $5m/yr is bit much for a 7th/8th inning guy, especially considering the "budgetary constraints" this off-season?

This is the first time I've ever heard of him but it he seems pretty good. Maybe the pen won't be a total disaster for once. Starters still suck though.

Teams know this, so Dipoto won't have as much leverage in trade talks. Idk if he's that stupid or if he feels confident enough in moving one of them in exchange for a valuable arm
