Interesting. I didn't think he was going to sign this soon. This was posted a few days ago.

I thought they wanted to keep their payroll down. What good are all those pitchers if you can only start 5. Seems like they would be better served trading one of those young guys for Aybar and saving cash.

how much would they be saving really?  4-5 mil per year?  and they'd lose a pitcher with value.  

 

you can never have enough pitching.  If they felt like they needed to offload someone, they could move lance lynn and Jaime Garcia for prospects and stock their farm even further.

If they're comfortable signing a known PED user on the wrong side of 30 that's already a poor defensive shortstop for 13 million a year then that's their curse.  For their sake they just have to hope Peralta's using something now that's more untraceable that way he can cheat without the risk of getting caught and they can reap the benefits.
