So why were his walk rates so low in his final three years? I highly doubt pitchers just decided to change that approach. There's no way to prove pitchers were throwing stuff way out of the zone to avoid giving up hits. It's more likely that he was fairly selective about which balls to swing at.

But there are metrics that prove result of pitches (out of zone or in zone).
