Enright outdueled in Mexican winter ball

Barry Enright pitched into the 8th inning and gave up two runs on five hits as his team dropped a 2-0 game on Sunday.

 

Enright fell to 4-2 with Hermosillo in the Mexican Pacific League. He is tied for second in the league in wins and has posted an ERA of 2.36 over six starts.

 

The league is somewhere between AA and AAA level. Barry has been terrible in AAA, including 7-7, 7.12 with Salt Lake City in 2013, and even worse in two stints in the bigs with the Angels.

I don't trust Scioscia and Butcher.   Watch them give Enright EVERY chance to win a spot on the 2014 roster. 

 

I can see it now.   Sometime in 2014, a game will see Enright, Blanton, Rasmus, LeBlanc, and that lefty signed last month all used in one game, multiple times.

AO, I can see that too, but that will happen in a game where we either win 15-3 or lose 15-3, and none of those pitchers will be the starter of the game.

Enright on Friday: 6IP, 7H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, K, WP (ND) as he helped first place Hermosillo to a 4-3 victory over three-time defending league champ and Caribbean Series Champ Ciudad Obregon. Season ERA for Enright stands at 2.68.

Who here knows that this league is somewhere between AA and AAA? There are AAA AND Big League hitters from what I see in Mexico. The kid is 10th in ERA and first among all import pitchers. Why are people so quick to pass hate. He did struggle for us last year and the numbers were bad, but that is one year of many. He has had pretty solid years in AAA(especially factoring in his home field being Reno and Salt lake) and a pretty good track record before that. He also pitched well in hitter friendly park in AZ, and since he struggled out of the gate when he made the team in 2011 he really hasn't gotten another solid chance since. Obviously you need to earn that chance but we used him last year in quite an array of situations and the kid had a pretty short leash.

HE had a short leash because he was giving up hits and runs galore in the first 2-3 innings of games. He is what he is, org depth. Nobody hates the guy, they just don't want to have to rely on him for quality innings out of the pen or out of the rotation because he doesn't have the stuff to get major league hitters out on a consistent basis

There's no way for anyone to know whether or not to hate Barry Enright until we find out whether or not he's Jewish.  Could someone please do the research on this one?
